Nice pics, VeeVee.
Just some stuff that popped out:
- the WW2 first aid pouch on the 26th? guy? - the battling bastard with his favorite sunglasses on - I don't think the ladies either in Manila or Bataan in 1942 wore wire-supported skirts like those...or maybe the Bataan people just meandered off to another group?
All in all I they look to have had great fun.
-- inline admin response -- The first aid pouch is an M1924. It's okay for Bataan period as well. Yes there are many groups from different eras. They just had pictures taken with these ladies from another era because they looked cool.

Sorry about my corrective lenses, guys. We didn't mean to mess up the authenticity of history... Louwie and I totally forgot about our modern transitional lenses. We'll just go blind the next time around. The main thing is that Philip told us to remove the glasses when needed for filming, the lowering the flag, etc...

Thanks to everyone for posting some of the best photos and Photoshop jobs yet. I wish we have that many guys in the east coast. The inaccuracies and little details can always be corrected and tweaked. But having a lot of people who are getting into it to begin with... priceless.
Salutes. -victor

Hi everyone this is Louie from San Diego, I wanted to thank all you for inviting me and my wife to this wonderful experience. It was very educating and fun, I went there knowing nothing and left with so much knowledge about the Philippine Scouts. Me and my wife were honored to participate in an event that dealt with both U.S. and Philippine History. Hopefully we can see each other again at Chino and future events. Please keep me updated with any information and keep in touch.
THANK YOU AGAIN Louie T. from San Diego

Hi Louie,
WELCOME aboard our forum! I hope you and Geo will discover a lot of info and share with us here. Victor is of great help on this too so are Rudy and Ray.
Thank you for joining our Unit at Fort MacArthur. As it is a proud heritage as all can see. I will help you guys slowly build and assemble your gear together in time for Chino!
I am really happy that you and your wife will carry this rich heritage of the Philippine Scouts. As they are slowly fading away.
And we will put together a medical unit. "Angels of Bataan!" Cheers!
Philip

Posting for Rudy, from an email: ------------ To All that participated: I want to say thank you again for an outstanding performance from you all. I had a great time and it made up for that long drive. To the emails I have read and some comments in the forum. This year we had a whole lot more than last year and a lot of young bucks who never held a gun. For their first time they listened, followed orders without complaints, tried to give their all, followed cadence by Lopez and Garcia and were willing to learn on the spot. It is very hard for some to understand that we come from all over and to get us together for drilling would be tuff. Gil and Philip continue to do other things for the Chapter and their own personal lives. I was humbled by what Gil does for his community, his job and buying all that gear for who needs it. I was guard at the site one day and when all were gone all I heard were positive remarks, not on negative, even from the 11th Cavalry guys. Steve an assistant to Lou Lopez came by and said our site and guys were outstanding, some witnesses to that. If we were that out of character, I do not think that Lou Lopez the man himself would have asked us to raise the flag. Those two guys live this more than we do and they know uniforms, equipment, regulations etc, etc. If we were not showing that, trust me, we would not have been asked to raise that flag Sunday morning. I think Gil hit it on the nose that we should have someone on the spot checking us out everyday, but some times folks just make it to put stuff on. I myself wore those sun glasses. They wore sunglasses and clip on's then. Anyone pay attention to MacArthur he wore them all the time. Some of us can not see without them. Buying period frames and putting lens in them is veryyyyyy expensive and not on my list. In the last 2 years I have noticed one man that knows all the drills, rifles, marching lining up and most military regulations and hope he steps up next year or at the next function close to him. That man is Frank, yes you Frank you know your stuff and I wish you will help us next time. I will post some pictures soon and will attach one now. 22 notice sunglasses, inspection notice how sharp new kids lined up Take care and thanks again for a wonderful time and hope you were all sore and tired like i was. It is a mental and physical event. Rudy Cabigas/26th cav With some raw recruits marching smartly Marines wearing sunglasses as well Learning drills from Joe Lopez

Great pictures! One of the few times I wished I lived in California!! If you EVER have a function in the Pacific Northwest, let me know and save me a place. No uniform, but I can supply my own weaponry!! One question -- in the lineup, I was wondering how the guy with the M1919A4 air-cooled machine gun did "present arms" or "inspection arms"!! ;D

Hi All! Excellent pictures! It was fun being located right next to your group- we were the WWI group and I was the lone US Cavalry type. I didn't have an opportunity to say goodby or thanks for the lunch so I'll do it here. It's good to see that your group has grown. Besides WWI, the Philippine campaigns from 1899-1941 have always been of interest to me so it's neat to see people bring it back to life. Here's a picture of me in my US 1912 cotton uniform: Hope to see you all soon! Adam
