Hello Friends On the 8th to 10 Feb 2008 a group of us went up to the Tarak Ridge (SE crater rim of Mariveles volcano) to find the plane of Lt Earl R. Stone who crashed into this mountain on the 9th Feb 1942 together with his foe, a Japanese fighter. This happened in the process of protecting Capt. Villamore who carried out a photo mission trying to locate the Jap. Artillery in Cavite who were causing havoc on Corregidor. Kevin, a photographer, who works on stories like this and Spike, who was a POW in Hanoi Hilton organized this search effort and they had the help of several FedEx pilots. The brother of Lt Stone, still alive, had asked Spike for help. Residents of Zambales and Bataan joined in this effort with information on these planes and gave us man power and other logistic support. I was able to help a little and in the process took some pics. Here are some with stories to go with them. Enjoy, Karl Here is the URL: tinyurl.com/lwbp2hqNote: as of 3rd May 2009 this URL is active again.

A good metal detector will be of great help in your search. Keep it up.

;Di'm really thrilled to hear someone is looking for Lt.Stone. i lived and dug Bataan relics for 3 1/2 years and many times thought of Lt.Stone. its really some rugged mountains and i use to ask the negritos about the plane ,but never got any good feedback. i feel it can be found, but must be hidden well as the the negritos or aeta really have combed the mountains for years.i feel talking to the aeta is a way to learn the area.good luck and keep us posted. foxholefrank.
