Hello Friends The Death March Markers are a constant reminder to us in the Philippines of the tragedy of the defeat in the Philippines and the immeasurable sacrifices there by the Philippine and US Forces. Walking the Death March Route and documenting the state of the Death March Markers, the other Battle Field Markers and the Memorials along that route has been one of my goals since my return to the Philippines, this year of 2007. Here are the images of the beginning of that project and I hope to have it finished by the end of this year, 2007. This is the URL in my ‘photobucket account’. s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Death%20March%20Markers%20Death%20Camps%20and%20Memorials/DMM%20No%200%20Mariveles/The above URL has been a dead link, don’t know why, but it is active again as of 2011-Aug. 08.

Thank you for the pictures Carlos. Do you know if there is such an event as a "memorial walk" for say charity that is held to memorialize the death march? It would be nice to have an annual charity walk (say from Mariveles to Balanga) where proceeds can get donated to various good causes. Such an event could raise historical awareness, promote fitness, and raise money for good causes to boot.
It would be a nice and good thing to derive out of a hellish event 65 years ago. Just daydreaming... Thanks for posting the pictures.

It's amazing the stuff I discover in my parents house (the house I grew up in). Here's a drawing I made when I was a little kid. I was already drawing about the death march with stick figures. Notice the japanese guy hauling down the American flag on the right, and my attempts to draw a decent 1917A1 helmet. (and the japanese helmeted guy)

Wow! How old were you when you did this drawing? ;D Wanna see more stuff you may have found. I use to draw Napoleonic uniforms and battles as a kid and I don't know were I kept them. Philip

This one is quite impressive and really good with a perspective pov of the battle. And full of details from every side of the combatants. Creative license on history, Japanese bedouins. ;D

Hello Friends On the 31st of Dec 2007 I finished retracing the Death March, from Bagac to Pilar, from Mariveles to San Fernando. By uploading some of my images of those walks, I tried to show the present status of the Death March Marker ( DMM ) project. The condition of every marker, I found, is shown. These images show the Sponsors and Honorees of the DMMs. Local communities or entities from abroad have placed other memorials and or plaques along the way; those I found are also shown. Here is the URL: s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Death%20March%20Markers%20Death%20Camps%20and%20Memorials/ After it opens one has to choose sub albums. In the Rainy Season 2008 I will visit Capas ,Camp O’Donnel and the Cabanatuan and then will add those images of those areas. On 8th Nov. 2007 I walked up Mount Samat and made three albums, one can find them in this URL: s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Manila%20Bay%20Forts-Other/Bataan%20Defense/Mount%20Samat/The above URLs have been dead links, don’t know why, but they are active again as of 2011-Aug. 08.

This project is now complete and all the albums have been completed. You have to click on the sub albums: s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Death%20March%20Markers%20Death%20Camps%20and%20Memorials/Here are some small images from those links.
