Another outstanding exploration and trip report by my friend Karl... Thank you Karl!
This is a detailed presentation of the shrine, of what the monuments plaques say and I even included an opinion or two. Also there is an additional segment about the artillery at the Balete Bass Battle.
On my way from San Nicolas in Pangasinan, on the bottom of the Villa Verde Trail to Santa Fe in Nueva Viscaya, the end of the Villa Verde Trail I stopped at the Balete or Dalton Pass. Since the Villa Verde Trail can’t be used by vehicles one got to drive south to San Jose in Nueva Ecija, around the bottom of the Caraballo Mountain Spur and then about 60 km north to the pass.
Philippine National Road No. 5 goes thru the pass and is the only practical way to get to the Cagayan Valley and the Ifugao Province. Countless people pass thru here and know about the Balete Pass Shrine and many stop to have a look. So did I and took pictures and made this album with 47 images and all have a description plus the pictures are larger than the 13 sample picture presented here.
This is the presentation with 13 sample images in the Corregidor.org Forum: (you have to scroll down to the lower 20% of this page)
