Hey Vic....Can you imagine one of these slow, clumsy Aircraft taking on the nimble Zero??? They had two chances, "slim and none". Maybe an extraordinary, skilful American/Filipino Pilot versus a "rookie" Japanese aviator might have a 50/50 chance, but, otherwise, I think our guys would have been doomed from the start. That's about what did prove to be the case. P-40s, a much better Aircraft, was still at a disadvantage, even with skilful pilots such as Buzz Wagner, etc. Those were tough times for the USAAC, for sure. Cheers.

I'm thinking even if none of the USAAC planes were bombed on the ground, it would just be a matter of time before the limited numbers got decimated through combat actions or attrition. Many of the planes were casualties of accidents and bad landings too.
