With the campaigning season fast approaching, the 2nd Chevauleger is looking for new recruits! The 2nd Chevauleger Regiment portrays the German (more specifically, Bavarian) cavalry of the First World War era and is a member unit of the Great War Historical Society. During the war we acted in both mounted and dismounted roles although for reenacting purposes we primarily work on the ground- like our infantry comrades, we also served in the trenches on rotation. We are in the process of building up our membership and while this may be somewhat off-beat, it's definitely unique and offers an interesting view of some little-known aspects of WWI history. Feel free to check out our website at: 2chevauleger.org/If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or email me at: info@2chevauleger.org

Unfortunately, just me for now. Our events are focused primarily on 1917-18 which was characterized by trench warfare so like our historical predecessors, there's no use for horses in the front lines- we fight dismounted like our infantry comrades. Historically, we were the reconnaissance element for the 6th Bavarian Infantry Division and when we weren't in the front lines, we were mounted in the rear acting as feld gendarmerie. If things develop for the unit (ie, recruit more people) and if there's interest, we'll develop mounted impressions for public events. Sent from my VS840 4G using proboards
