A nice PS photo reference. This must be a still shot from the series of footages showing Scouts crossing a foot bridge usually shown as a 2-3 second stock footage in documentaries. Notice how uniform they are. Each piece of gear is in the same spot for each man.

Since this Scouts are engineers they are all issued the non combatant M1A2 Gas masks too. You would think they would take off all that gear to assemble a bridge on water first.
Nice photo thanks for posting Vic. Any more?

I just found this on ebay. Won the photo. I can post a high res version later.
Yes this was a prewar training activity. If I remember from the footage, they still had 1903 rifles.

I think the NCO's were wearing khaki shirts like the officers. It looks like the corporal is wearing khaki. Here's a higher resolution version. (click for bigger) It's got to be from that same training exercise that this shot was taken from:

Hey Vic....I knew that the guys in the 45th, 57th, and 31st Infantry Regiments were issued the new Garand rifles prior to the outbreak of war, but was wondering if the Engineers, etc were also afforded these more modern shoulder arms? Also, I have never been a "nit picker", but isn't that "Corporal", actually, a Private First Class" ? No big deal, just askin' ?

Hi Okla, the 14th Engineers did receive Garands as well. But I think these photos and footage were taken even before they received the M1's. That's why I think it's a pre-war photo.
The corporal I'm referring to is the one stooping down beside the PFC. He looks like he has two stripes?
