February 18, 2012, my wife and I attended “The Great Los Angeles Air Raid” (see www.theairraid.com/ for more information). We had a great time. This is always a fun event because you kind of get a feel of 1942 with all the people dressed up in various US uniforms (and some occasional British). We mainly attend this event because of the dancing. We were so glad that it didn’t rain this year. Last year, we had the dance inside the bunker hallways which was kind of cramped. Also, same as last year, I was a volunteer assistant to the dance teacher.
Here are some photos of me with some of the displayed vehicles.
And some of my wife
Here are photos of me (taken by other photographers) as an assistant dance teacher.
After which, we did a brief demonstration dance
Here are shots later in the evening (also taken by other photographers)
The event ended with a barrage of blank firing, reenacting the “air raid” itself. But, my wife and I were already long gone by then. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
p.s. The other photographers are Matt Ullman and Dave Welch (check his website for more photos)
