Last week my wife and I attended a Swing Dance event billed as "Tribute To Glenn Miller Night". While I have a collection of uniforms, my wife has a collection of vintage dresses! We make quite a team, talk about finding my soulmate. I took a photo of her while she tried on some of her vintage outfits. Here's dress or suit number one. Though we both liked this one, we tested it and found that it is a little difficult to dance. So, we went to suit number two. She said that this is more 1950s than 1940s and there will be people there who will be able to notice. So, out with this one. Next one was a 1940s dress. This one was period appropriate but a little less formal to go with my Class A uniform. So, she ended up wearing this one. Here we are with the hostess of the event dressed up as Rosie the Riveter. Here's another picture of us while the band was setting up. Here are some others who also wore uniforms. Also with us is the band leader who is related to Glenn Miller himself! Here's my wife with Rudy. A World War II Veteran. When he saw my uniform, he said, "I should have taken better care of mine". He liked my uniform and complimented me on how sharp I look. My wife and I had a blast dancing to live Glenn Miller music. Another photographer took a picture of us as we took a break from the dancing. One of my favorites. It was a fun evening of dancing. I even won a ticket to another dance, we will be dressing up again!

B20, this is great! Is this your place, with the old radio? Any videos?

Thanks Veevee! Yup, that's our house. The vintage radio was a wedding present from our friends. They restored the finish and made it look awesome. It still has the tubes and parts inside but it's not working. I don't think I'll go as far as restoring the insides since it'll probably just pick up AM and the sound won't be that great. If ever, I'll just put a small sound system there where I can attach a media player just to make it seem like it's playing music.
There were no videos of us dancing that night but I'm hoping one of these days, we can get one of our friends videotape us. I'll be sure to post it.

I like the baby grand piano too! Who plays it?

Hey Vee, sorry it took a while to reply but that baby grand piano belongs to my wife. She's a music major but she does not perform professionaly. We both play the piano though. I play by ear.

B20, The Nininger Chapter will most likely host the PSHS reunion again next year in LA. If so, dangit I'll have my fingerprints all over it. We'll have swing dancing at the banquet! I envision the veterans starting the dancing with a few 1940's slow dance music. But after that we'll have the DJ play a bunch of fast swing dancing songs. I want to see you and your wife on the floor!

That would make it $30 for my wife and me. Anything higher would be a no-go for us.

Looks awesome! You're so lucky your wife reenacts with you - I'm trying to get my fiancee to dress up for WW1/WW2 period (she's got a Carice van Houten look about her so I wanted us to dress up once as Graf and Grafin von Stauffenberg) but she really doesn't like 'modern' period clothing, history, etc. She'll go with stuff up to the Victorian era (we plan to do a Queen Victoria/Prince Albert one sometime) but later than that is a no-go.
Sigh... I miss the Lindy!

Here's my wife with some of the other ladies at the ball. These ladies made their own dresses! Lindy Hop is still our favorite dance. June 12th, we attended a Hangar Dance. Here are pictures from that event. Here we are inside a fully restored DC-3 and outside. There were some other vintage planes on the tarmac. But, this is one of my favorite shots.

A friend of mine, Ryan Cooper is one of the attendees to the Hangar Dance. He created a video from that event, here it is. rydirector.com/directing/swing-dancers/The music he used is "Another Day In LA" by the group, Indigo Swing. I thought he did a great job.
