Hi Guys. My first post. I have a canteen, that I thought was Span Am, till I spoke with some Span Am reenactors. They told me it was Phillipine War. It is the same color as the span Am one. It has several of the battles inked on the canteen. It also has the owners' name on it. He was in the U. S. Signal Corps. According to the National Archives, he was killed Oct. 1st. 1900, between Pavia and Santa Barbara island of Panay. Is this sounding right? I was checking to see if it holds water, when the cover got wet, and the writing really came through, it is all over the cover. It is tan, looks like Civil War vintage, with the cork and chain. Except the strap hardware on the sides is triangular. I was a Civil War reenactor for 22 years, so I know that time period and the equipment. I think this is original. Your thoughts would be very welcomed. Thanks.

Yes. Pretty good shape for the years. The cover is totally intact. There is no strap, but it is in a cover with a strap that almost looks like a boy scout cover. That part is pretty ragged. The writing on the side is what threw me. As soon as I can, I will post some photos.
