Here's an excellent site about the US 5th Army Air Force, from its humble beginnings at Clark Field, Luzon, right up to the end of the war. My favorite part is the month by month chronology of the war.: www.kensmen.com/history.html

hey john....didnt realize that the 5th USAAF had its antecedents at clark. always thought it came into being down in australia/new guinea a bit later in 1942. never too old to learn. i am rather proud of having been a member of the 5th while serving in korea in 1952 and 1953. i have their insignia displayed in my den and of course have a 5th air force baseball type cap that i don on veterans day,etc like a lot of other old fools that today long for those times although we cursed them back then. i will certainly grab up a copy of said volumn for my personal library. thanks for the tip. dont know how i missed knowing about this book.
