In 1903 Governor Taft ordered that a great seal be adopted using the design created by Melecio Figueroa for the new Filipino coinage. The seal was prepared at the order of the U.S.A. Treasury Depeartment. The design of... Melecio Figueroa (the principal engraver at the "Casa de Moneda" ) depicted a young filipina in a long dress who remainded the classical models of art and sculpture, she was standing at near an anvil on the right hand resting on a hammer , her left hand holding a small leafy sprig, in the background is seen the smoking Mayon volcano. The seal was surrounded by the words : " United States of America - Government of the Philippine Islands "

Just one thing: the republican side was not communist only, there were socialists, anarchists, liberals .. sad to say but communists of the P.C.E. , supporters of Stalin killed many anarchists, socialists and other more than the nationalists of Franco.... .

Here a short message i posted here on : Re: Aguinaldo's Red Brigade « Reply #5 on Nov 18, 2008, 8:48am »
At the beginning of the revolution The filipino fighters of the Katipunan wore no standard uniform exept the Katipuneros of the " Supremo ", Andres Bonifacio ; on a spanish account on the battle of San juan del Monte, in 1896 we can found out the following interesting words: " they ( the insurgents ) wore red trousers and white shirts... " Maybe the tradition of red trousers for some particular corps start in 1896 until the Aguinaldo's period....

Thanks for the infos Phil ; so "your" flag is an Army flag,do you have the original image of it with the 1st Div. insignia ? Cn you post t here ? The four star flag is the official flag of the President during Commonwealth time, before it had 4 white stars, then they changed the color and they become yellow (gold ).... .
