Great picture! Interesting to see the Navy issue blue uniform. I see you have chosen not to go with a '"Berserkers" Orange one. I heard a story that some Navy guys attempted to dye their uniforms Khaki prior to the Japs arrival around Bataan. Alas it was a disaster as the uniforms came out as an orange colour. The Japs attempting their beach landing were confronted by orange clad GI's fighting them with great tenacity. The Yaps thought them Special U.S. Kamakasi troops! Read in the book 'The fall of Bataan' -David

Oh that... it's not a "beached sailor" impression David. That would be very interesting to put together though. The pic of the week is that of a Philippine Army enlisted man in Bataan. They wore blue denim fatigues (locally made), guinit coconut sun helmets, and Enfield rifles for the most part. The picture of the week was modeled by Ray... whose dad was a PA officer in Bataan. Here's a picture of him (in khakis) with his NCO's in Balanga, Bataan in January of 1942 before much of the you-know-what hit the fan for real.

It's a M1943 Field Jacket and Trousers and web gear repro from At The Front Militaria and photo edited by my staff. Not showing is my 32nd Red Arrow Divisional Patch, a division that participated in the liberation of the Philippine Island. You see, we are not re-enactors nor historians but just a bunch of middle aged professionals who needed the exercise. However, we belong to a huge airsofting community in our "native" philippines enjoying the sport of "airsofting" but uniquely doing it in WWII Impressions. Also, we don't use "photo op" but historically accurate "skirmishable" weaponry to add to the excitement. My 1911 shoots at 300Fps and the BAR 1918A1 at 550 FPS ( .2 mm BBs ). I visit this website because I have decided to do only WWII impressions and to learn from you because my next attempt is to don a PS Impression while airsofting. I am hoping to influence local airsofters and to showcase and share your passion for Philippine history and war memorabilia. So, allow me to post my next impression, the Philippine Scouts in the very near future. All sources of which, I have gathered from this proboard. Thank you.

Bulikiti2, 550 fps? I hope the minimum engagement distances are observed. The BAR would be good for a PS impression. Can you post a picture of you in PS with a BAR? That would be great.
Any plans to get a Marushin garand? I've skirmished with a marushin garand before against other airsofters using full auto M16's and AK's. I have two "kills" with it but I pretty much had to function as a sniper as my 8 rounds couldn't duke it out with the 300 round full auto hicap mags of the other players. Hit and run was the name of the game. -vic

VeeVee, Yes of course we observe the minimum engagement distance. However I cannot speak for the younger players. This is the reason why we play only amongst ourselves. My problem with an M1 Garand is that it shoots at 200+ FPS only. This could be a liability in the local airsoft scene as the opposing team seldom uses stock airsoft guns. Instead, I have what you may call a "bastardized" tommy gun, M1A1 receiver fitted with an M1921 front assembly ( fore grip ala gangster type ), but it shoots at 400+ FPS. I skirmish with it sometimes minus the butt stock for CQB. I am more inclined to get an M1 or M2 GBB Carbine that shoots at 300+ FPS. For my PS Impression, I still couldn't lay my hands yet on a Brodie Helmet. I couldn't outbid those guys on e bay. Fully restored helmets are a bit pricey but I may just have to buy one from the sources that you have recommended.

What's your budget for a doughboy helmet? You could get a belgian one and just replace the chin strap. But a fully restored M1917A1 is about $140 from Prairie Flower Leather Co.

VeeVee, Maybe I should go for the fully restored helmet na lang. I'll try searching for the company you mentioned. Thanks.
P.S. If you guys get a chance to visit manila maybe we could get together for a few rounds of "San Miguel" and go airsofting in WWII gears. My email: rmacasinag@poms.ph

Thanks VeeVee. I phoned PFICO yesterday and I am just waiting for their quote on the shipping cost. I am excited already. On a different note, former President Erap Estrada is seen on the headline of the Philippine Daily Inquirer a local leading newspaper, aboard an award winning vintage WWII jeep with a mounted replica of a 30 cal. machine gun in Cebu and aptly captioned " JEEP NI ERAP PART II". Maybe the owner is a reenactor too or is it Sgt. Alfonso?
