If I'm not mistaken, this museum/library used to be the old flight tower of what was then called Nielson Field, which played a part in the chaotic pre-invasion days of December, '41. Among their Special Collections, the "Roderick Hall Collection of Books on World War II seems particularly interesting. From the flyer: "The latest among the Filipiniana's special collections consists of over 500 books on Manila and the Philippines during World War II, donated by Mr. Roderick Hall."Makati Avenue, Ayala Triangle, Makati City Tel (632) 892 1801 / Fax (632) 892 1810 www.filipinaslibrary.org.ph

Last time I was in Manila definitely visited that place and took photos of the inside. A historic landmark. I wish it had some of the open field around it made into a park. But sadly encroached by all the concentrated architectural concrete jungle of Makati.

Mish thanks for the link, I'm aware of the Library when I was in Manila but it was the "Retrato" site that I was looking for quite a while now. I knew I should know this but I can't remember the name of the site ( for getting copy of old pictures ).
I chanced upon the "retrato" 8 years ago then forgot about it.

Local governmnets are even worse. Last time I was in Vigan I saw a Jollibee outlet constructed on the ground floor of a bahay-na-bato. What a waste. About this particular museum... yeah there should've been a park made around it or something. There isn't even an historical marker, if I'm not mistaken. As it stands now it's quaintly defiant in a sense; relatively short and squat, of an architectureal style that's definitely non-contemporary, fronted and surrounded by glass and concrete monstrosities.
