It seems like the Muslim Constabulary retained the black fez while the Muslim Philippine Scouts began to use the "Tubao" sometime shortly before or after WW I. note the strange "bolo" bayonet.

I'm sure most of you have seen this picture - taken ca. WWI period. Note the "machete"-type bayonets - they are very rare and fetch a pretty penny, these days! As Oklahoma said, I would definitely want them on the my side in a brawl!! ;D
