HOW FUNNY...... "PHILIPPINES" IS COMING OUT OF THE GREEK WORDS:
"PHILOS = FRIEND"
&
"IPPOS = HORSE"
=
...................................... "FRIEND OF HORSES / HORSE LOVERS" !!!
I GUESS YOU GUYS BRING CREDIT TO THE WORD !!!
IN ANY CASE HELLO FROM GREECE. MY NAME IS THEODORE MAVRIDOPOULOS
AND I'M A 37 YEARS OLD GREEK REENACTOR AND ADMIRER OF YOUR COUNTRY
AND IT'S HISTORY. IT'S A REAL PLEASURE TO SEE THAT EVER SINCE THE LAST
TIME I'VE BEEN IN THE PHILIPPINES (BACK IN 1989) THE PHILIPPINOS
MOVED WAY AHEAD IN THE ISSUE OF REENACTMENT. THIS MAKES ME
REALLY HAPPY AND PROUD ON YOUR BEHALF. WELL DONE KAIBIGAN!!!
KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB.

Impressive uniforms & reenactors! May I know who these reenactors are and how to get in touch with them? We may be having an event relating to Sixto Lopez anniversary and may require some ceremonies/program related to the Phil-Am War. Thanks in advance!

A son of a Phil Scout, I was born at Fort William McKinley just before the outbreak of WWII and spent my youthful years in and around the the post. I can recall going to the polo club once with my father, I think the year was 1948, the same year that we left the Philippines. I been back to the islands several times, to include being stationed at Marine Bks, Subic Bay. I've visited the old "Fort Mac" on several occasion and thought about stopping at the polo club, but was informed that the club is exclusive - only members may enter. I plan to visit the Philippines again in the immediate future and would like to know how, if there is any way at all, that I can be admitted to see what have become of it.

mcgrunt, Welcome to the forum and I hope you will find out more about the Philippine Scouts here. And being born at Fort Mckinley is a unique part of your history. There will be a 25th Silver Anniversary reunion of Philippine scouts in Long Beach, CA on May 8 & 9 2009. If you can make it to the reunion you might be able to meet vets and fellow members there who can help you in getting a chance to visit the Manila Polo club. I invite you to sign up and join the Philippine Scouts Heritage Society www.philippine-scouts.org/And finally being a son of a Philippine Scout you are welcome to help continue the legacy and honor the sacrifce and service of your father through this Heritage Society. Cheers! Philip
