Oh that makes sense Dave. I was wondering about what that extra thin "rope" was. I thought it was the lanyard worn around just the left shoulder and not around the head and left shoulder.

Modeller: Here you go. A picture of the boots. They are call 1931 lace ups. If you notice one side has just holes the outside so it would not get the horse is 3/4 hooks and the rest holes. I will be send you a lot more to your email. Takes longer to download into Image Hosting. What you will get is all sides of boot. Also attached is a picture of a dress uniform. this is the only time you use collar pins and lapel pins unless you are a officer. They would wear their rank and such on shirt collar. The uniform shows dark pins my dads time period the last picture shows more brass 1940 period. The 26th DUI pins for lapel area are facing each other, very important. One also goes on the campaign hat and that one is a screw back type these showing are pins. The Sea horse patch is what you wear on left shoulder for Philippine Department. We do wear the patch on our shirts when reenacting just to let people know who we are. It was not a standard thing to do. I hope this helps and again I will send picture of the boots to your email. There is another section that I post of what a Cavalryman in the 26th used. I forgot what section it is in. Ps>last shot is what you should look like during Bataan Rudy/26thCav

JoJo Yes that is me and yes a yellow hat cord. Of course you know that yellow is "cavalry", blue "infantry", red "artillery". You might want to find a book on US uniforms in the PI or look them up on the Internet for more detail to help you get started. Here a few other items for reference. This shows the boots on the Sargent to have hooks on both sides. Rudy

jnmodeller, Veevee has also sent me a detailed photo of the lace up boots. I was supposed to bring it to VALENTINO already ( they made my Service Boots earlier ) , also in Marikina. But after the flood I don't know if the factory is operating at the moment. Also, one of our colleagues, Sgt. Alfonso has an original pair which we could copy.

Hi, 26th also emailed me detail shots of the laceboots, we went to Marikina to a shop recomended by a friend to , im just waiting for my friend service boots to finish so i can see the quality of the end product, but as you said if we can copy the original i think that is the best way to do, maybe we can compare costing and quality before making our orders.
