Downtown LA, Little Tokyo, corner of 2nd and Central Color Guard leading the Start of the Parade! My very first time to be in it and the first group to lead the parade. Never experience so much applause for the Nisei Vets. It was a great experience. and a rush as we did a slow walk down the parade route. On the LEFT is my Friend Tim Kano whose father was a menber of the 100th I B Nisei Vet Henry Kano. is the point man on the left. If you look closely were there is a small American flag on the windshield of the Jeep right next to it there is a top of a Helmet and that is me behind the jeep as the third man on the right side column of the unit. The second Nisei jeep with more Nisei Vets in them. This Jeep carries a mounted BAR. Here's a blurred shot of me with rolled up sleves in the middle of the group. Tim Kano is behind me. Sorry for the poor quality of the image. More vets in the truck. And a Dodge weapons Carrier following. O! Yes the Mayor of LA was with Us too., plus the sister city mayor of Yokahama. ;D I originally was just going there to take pictures of Tim Kano but ended up getting suited up as a Nisei reenactor in the end! We got a beautiful metal engraved token from the Nisie reenactment group as appreciation for participating as a Nisei Reenactor. ;D Thanks guys! photos courtesy of Manny and Ray Ortega our photo journalists. Good looking event! Who organized the parade? What was the occasion? Was it part of a bigger commemoration for something? I wish we could do the same for our own vets.

This Parade was organized by the Japanese Business community in LA. It is a yearly event. It's the start of their week long Nisei week festival held in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. Their parade had hafl a dozen floats and high school bands. By the time we reached the end of the parade route there was still more groups that was waiting in line to march in the parade. Yes If only we only had a Filipino festival like that here in LA. Philip

great pics! Wish I could have been there. Whenever I'm in LA, Little Tokyo is one of the places I frequent. There's a little cafe there called Suehiro that's one of my favorite places to eat in the whole world.

So what is Suehiro's menu? Shabu Shabu? My all time favorite in the heart of the village. Nothing beats that! ;D

I usually order teriyaki chicken and/or beef udon when I'm there. The food is good and the ambience is wonderful. I like that place a lot. Generally, I like the entire Little Tokyo location a lot. It's one of my favorite places to hang out at when I'm in LA.
