Komusta
I am in New Zealand and help run a reenactment group that does world wars 1 & 2 and Vietnam, all the "Kiwi" involvement. My wife is Filipina, a nurse. That allows the nephews to provide the VC for vietnam displays at airshows etc. We also have guys who do German ww1 and 2. I have a permit to import a live M60 machine gun but am having trouble tracking one down. I know they are in use by PAF but wonder if its possible to find a contact to see if any are up for disposal and therefore export. If anyone has any ideas on who to contact ( must be legal and above board) please let me know. Will post some pictures of our guys when my membership confirms on the site. Great site guys. Waka

Welcome to the forum. Not knowing much about the firearm importation process especially in New Zealand... would going to a local gun dealer or broker there be a place to start?

Hey L1a1 Here is that site for the M60. It is line 3. They have other wonderful play things. If not still for sale I am sure they can guide you in the right direction. Good luck and buy lots of ammo for this beast. Rudy/26Cav

Thanks Guys. The problem is the US wont usually ship automatics and thier prices are crazy. When they do come up for sale here they are only about $6000 NZD or say about $4500USD not $27,000!
I could import one from Philipines if there was a legal source but havnt found one yet. How do I post pictures here so I can show you what our group does? You can email me instruction to wellingtonrifles@paradise.net.nz so I dont miss it
God bless

I wouldn't really know but I'm thinking an M60 would never be a "surplus" in the AFP. One could always be handed down to a needy unit. Maybe some other more well equipped army would have surplus M60's. A $4500 M60 would indeed be a bargain.

Can't really help on procuring one but one of the reasons any legal automatic weapon is so bloody expensive in the States is because back in the mid 1980s, the Government basically locked in the number of legal automatics available for civilian purchase with no possibility to add to it, thus creating a fixed pool that can only go down as some are retired, etc. From there, the classic law of supply and demand kicks in. Other than that, licensing costs are actually quite reasonable (at least in Arizona where I maintain a second residence).

The reason they are so expensive in the US is the Automatic Weapon License Stamp. This allows the weapons to be sold / traded in the USA.
It would be cheaper to put one together from parts kits.
Look a Shot Gun News and similar publications.
Do they really allow full functioning automatic weapons in New Zealand?
