As reenactors it seems to come natural to daydream of possibilities of somehow being involved in movie making.... why not? we already have wardrobe and half of the props! ;D.... some of us even have Jeeps! it seems all that is needed is a good script, a video camera, and enough beer to get your friends to cooperate. So let's feed these daydreams of ours and talk about the possibilities. Has anyone here ever watched Pink Floyd "The Wall"? or other rock opera movies? for years now I have been thinking how cool it would be to make a movie with little or no dialouge, just imagery set to powerful music.... The movie would be set from the begining of the Philippine Revolution and end with the Phil/Am War, the idea would be to locate talented but hardly known Filipino bands and hire them to write contemporary music inspired by the historical scenes of the movie. Actors would be all students and people off the street.... the focus would all be on authenticity, cinematography, and stirring music. whatayathink huh?

Hello Yamota.... That's the beauty of this film (that I am thinking about) is that there would be no moviestars or popular singers.... the whole pupose of the movie would be to inspire Filipinos, promote patriotism, and possibly spark interest in Philippine history, and perhaps even give the viewers a new and positive way of looking at the past..... I dunno it's just an idea I should introduce myself.... my name is Mike, I live in Southeastern Michigan, I'm 37 year old American of German heritage married to a 37 year old 100% Filipina ;D I've been involved in reenacting since I was 24 my impressions started with French and Indian War 1756 both French Marine and British 60th Reg. as a grenadier then progressed to Revolutionary War 1st and 2nd American regts. then traveled in a time machine to the 20th century and did some SS and Panzer Grenadier impressions..... over the last 5 years my passion has been with promoting Philippine living history as both a hobby and as a means of inspiring the youth to take a positive look at the richness of Filipino history and culture.

I like the idea. I would make something like the mini-movies that BMW made as a marketing ploy You know start small.

that's true. Then post it up on the internet, possibly on youtube and let it catch some buzz and buildup.

exactly! I was thinking of doing something small just to get my feet wet..... something really simple such as a Phil. living history display (one reenactor in uniform) showing close up details of the uniform. I know making films is extremely complicated... to be honest the role I would much rather play is a consultant or advisor on historical details, but it seems no one is shooting films portraying Philippine history, so I guess guys like us should take matters into our own hands and do something about it. anyone have any suggestions on a good all purpose cam-corder? I haven't shopped around yet, I am thinking of one that I could easily download and edit on my computer.

I've entertained the same thoughts. --- Not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking of something with a short dialogue and without even actual fighting. But here's something that can whet appetites for short movie-making: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzVcvRcE0r0

I found a couple of really short "segue-way" videos I made just for fun with a few of the guys I play airsoft with. For those who don't know, airsoft is like paintball but the guns used are replica of real world guns and shoot plastic pellets. The gameplay usually is mil-sim, rather than the usual capture the flag in paintball. Games have tactical objectives (eg. rescue the downed pilot, capture a hill, etc) These videos were shot in the paintball field we play at. media.putfile.com/Test-Airsoft-Videomedia.putfile.com/Test-Airsoft-Video2
