Hi Rogue2,
I showed the video Bataan Shootout to Ray and found out the division you were portraying in the HC was the 57 PS Inf. Div. Which was holding the line at Abucay and was partial overun by the Japs.
And it was the 21st Inf. Div. PA were are doing that came to retake and hold the overun position. As I did a brief photo staging of the event with the 21st "Lighting" Div.
Small world that the unit you represented and the one we are doing fought side by side on the Abucay line.
Philip

Wow, Very interesting info. one of the guys in the photo (Close up with campaign hat with me in the background) was in the PMA. But he was discharged due to an injury he suffered during his time there. At the time of the filming I was afraid the patch I made (with felt) was the wrong size and possibly the wrong one to wear.
When I got home tonight I wanted to find out more about the two bayonets (Remington??) that I've had since I was a child. Philip I will bring one of them tomorrow I think they're for the P-14 British Enfield or P-17, but I dont have scabbards for them. I believe my parents got them at some militaria shop right by West Point in the 1960s. They are dated 1907 with a crown stamped on them, blade is about 17" inches.

Sounds like what you have is the Model 1907 SMLE bayonet with the crown and 1907 date for the No.1 Mk.III SMLE. does it have the 2 grooves through the grips rogue2?

This message is for YAMOTA
I've been researching on the internet about my great grandfather who fought during the WWI and WWII...and I was so excited when I saw his name finally...in google. This grandfather of mine...is no other than NARCISO ORTILANO..and you're right, he defended his position by himself against the japanese.
One of Narciso Ortilano's child is still alive and currently living in Vancouver Canada. That happens to be my grandmother. I would appreciate it if we could get a copy of the tape of the "Shootout".
Our family will be more than happy to have a memory of our great grandfather heroic acts.
Please email me angela26ph@yahoo.com
Thank you so much Yamota.

NARCISO ORTILANO was a real dude, who fought w the 57th (PS) Inf at Matabang, on the "Abucay Line, Jan 11-12, 1942.
His "I" company repulsed the Japanese 2d Battn, 142d Inf. w heavy Japanese casualties.
Anyone having additional information on Ortilano or his brother Scouts -- I would be very happy to ear from you. I am an American historian, researching and writing about this battle.
Respectfully, Gerald P. Kruth gkruth@aol.com
