More from Art Garcia's collection Captioned as "Macabebe scouts who captured Aguinaldo". The pants and felt hats are khaki. The Mills cartidge belts are blue. The shirts are "off-white" or beige. The rifles are "trapdoor" Springfields. F. Kiedel illustration of the Philippine Scouts circa 1904. Inset is a detail of the Springfield "trapdoor" mechanism. The Springfields used during the Spanish-American and Philippine Wars were old American Civil War vintage rifled muskets modified to accept brass jacket cartidges into the breech via the "trapdoor" mechanism. These were issued to U.S. State volunteers and later to Filipino scout units as their first U.S. issued firearms.

In the B&W photo the Macabebe scout looks like his wearing a modern style sneakers before the barefooted one ;D An illustration of a Philippine Scout Cavalry corporal 1905, wearing a dull bronze hat and Khaki cotton summer dress. Sgt. with three enlisted Philippine Scouts in Dress Blues and white gloves with Krag Rifles. Philip
