Hey Vic....I leaned heavily on this book, along with a few others, way back in 1958, while preparing a term paper, at Oklahoma State University. It was a God Send allowing me to be spared from doing some "heavy lifting" digging out some details late at night in the University Library. I purchased a copy soon after leaving College and it still occupies a spot in my meager library, here at home. I probably have read it three more times during the intervening years.I am always disappointed when reaching the end. We always lose the battle and the Philippines to the enemy. Cheers.

I think any true student of the campaign needs to have read this book as a foundation for understanding the big picture. Then the first hand accounts or unit-specific histories and experiences build on top of this excellent book. I've had a 90's edition for years and usually refer to the online version for quick look-ups but I picked this one up because it actually an official US Army copy with a document signed by Morton himself. Had to get it...
