Hi guys! I'm new at reenacting and I want my first reenactment to be a tribute to my grandfather who fought in WWII. So I decided that its gonna be a reenactment on the battle of Bataan. So does anyone know where I can find a group here in Metro Manila that I can join? And more importantly, where can I find the equipment and uniforms, specifically the patches or insignia? Already tried Gap and Dickies and no luck.
Maraming Salamat po!

Yes there's a group in Metro Manila. The Philippine Scouts Heritage Society McKinley Chapter and the Buhay na Kasaysayan.
Do you know what unit or army your grandfather fought under in Bataan?

I have no idea. Little is known about my grandfather during the war. All I know is that after Bataan has fallen, he joined the guerilla movements. How can I contact these groups? Where can I get the gears and equipment?

If you know a good tailor, and if you can borrow a good reproduction or original, it would be cheaper to have them made there in the Philippines. Otherwise you'll have to buy online plus mailing, it could get expensive.
As for the different web gear and items. It's usually a combination of reproduction or original items traded with other collectors, or bought from ebay or online. There's really no one stop shop way of doing it unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money and buy it from say At The Front. Otherwise it's a matter of slowly hunting and collecting the items.
Also, it depends on what army you plan to portray. There's the Phil. Army, the Phil. Constabulary, and there's the US Army (the Phil. Scouts are US Army). Depending on which one you plan to portray, the uniform could differ.

I'd like to portray the Phil. Scouts. Btw, I've noticed that there seems to be a variety of uniforms. There are those wearing khaki and there are those wearing OD Green. Which one do you think is more accurate for an officer in the field. As for the equipment, I'm planning on carrying light equipments. A 45 and two mags I think is enough. Also which is the right insignia for the scouts? The yellow carabao or the white seal?

If you go to Facebook, you will see plenty of photos of events involving the reenactments by the P.S. Heritage Soc. and the BNK Group. Pedro"Perry" Javier can make you a uniform etc. he made mine and obtained the gaiters for me also. He also supplies the cloth badges. P.S.'s Wear a yellow buffalo on a red background, and the US Cav etc The Blue badge. 1942 (Bataan) uniform was Khaki and the Green was post 1943. This was not seen in the Philippines until the Americans returned in 1945. I hope to see you amongst us at an event one day!
