I put this together reeeeally quickly for A-Kon (Anime Con) Dallas this past weekend and it needs a LOT of tweaks - the buttons need to be fixed up with chrysanthemums (and I probably need to get a different size of them - finding info on this uniform has been next to impossible for me!), the bottom coat skirts need to be fixed up so they're square rather than rounded, I need proper Japanese medal ribbons (I have no idea what these medal ribbons mean) and I need a dress hat(!!) but here's a first look at my character "Captain Kit Hasegawa" of the Imperial Japanese Navy. (The character's partly a joke name and partly named after Captain Kiichi Hasegawa, third commanding officer of the carrier Akagi who helmed her from Pearl Harbor to the Darwin raid just before Midway). My dress tunic With a model of the carrier Soryu which I won as a prize on an online wargame forum for the miniatures wargame, Axis&Allies War at Sea. Ironically, I received this miniature on June 4th - the day that the historical Soryu was sunk!!! At A-Kon, June 2nd. My wife, Susan, is the Pokemon trainer at my left (to the right of the photo).
