By request, I'm posting the PS units involved in the early WWII campaign. I'll work on the list and eventually complete it but here's a start.
57th Infantry
- One of the 3 infantry regiments of the Philippine Division
- Based in Fort McKinley (present day Fort Bonifacio)
- Repulsed the Japanese at Mabatang, Bataan (Abucay line)
- Threw the Japanese back into the sea at the Battle of the Points, along with the 45th Infantry PS
- Delayed the Japanese during the last days of the campaign along with the 45th Infantry PS, 31st Infantry US, and the 26th Cavalry PS
- Motto: Anywhere-Anytime
45th Infantry
- One of the 3 infantry regiments of the Philippine Division
- Based in Fort McKinley (present day Fort Bonifacio)
- Counter-attacked along with the 31st Infantry US to restore the Abucay line of defense
- Threw the Japanese back into the sea at the Battle of the Points
- Helped the Philippine Army destroy the Japanese at the Battle of the Pockets
- Delayed the Japanese during the last days of the campaign along with the 57th Infantry PS, 31st Infantry US, and the 26th Cavalry PS
- Motto: Strong to Endure
26th Cavalry
- Not a part of the Philippine Division, it was an independent regiment
- Based in Fort Stotsenberg, Pampanga
- Met the Japanese invasion force at Lingayen Gulf
- Fought a delaying action on the way back to Bataan
- Participated in delaying action at Layac Junction (entrance to Bataan)
- Troopers led by Lt. Ed Ramsey attacked the Japanese at Morong, Bataan in what is purported to be the US Army's last cavalry charge
- Delayed the Japanese during the last days of the campaign
- Motto: Our Strength is in Loyalty
14th Engineer Battalion
- Part of the Philippine Division
- They were engineers but also trained as infantry
- Based in Fort McKinley (present day Fort Bonifacio)
- Demolished bridges during the retreat
- Laid mines, barbed wire, constructed roads and trails in Bataan
- Single company and platoon detachments were assigned to other PS units to assist in building defensive positions and other tasks
- Fought as a combat unit in the delaying and holding off the enemy during the last days of the campaign
- Motto: Ta' Na' (Let's Go!)
24th Field Artillery
- Part of the Philippine Division
- Based in Fort Stotsenberg, Pampanga
- Consisted of 2 battalions of truck-drawn British 75mm guns
- Fought in the Layac Junction delaying action
- Artillery support for the 57th Infantry along the Abucay line
- Motto: Crescit sub ponders Virtu (Virtue increases under a load)
23rd Field Artillery Battalion
- Part of the Philippine Division
- Based in Fort Stotsenberg, Pampanga
- 2.95" pack howitzers, and 75mm guns
- Fought in delaying actions from Lingayen to Bataan
- Artillery support at Layac Junction
- Artillery support for the I Corp on the west side of Bataan
- Had to destroy and abandon guns on the retreat from the Morong to the Bagac line
- Personnel absorbed into the Philippine Army artillery units
