Here is a photo of my father Patricio Ollada that served with the 1st Recon Btn(Bottom Right). He never really shared his stories with myself or my brother(From a previous marriage). Two things do stick out for me. My father always remarked that the Navy had the best food. hat he knew that from being on a sub. He also told me that he was dispatched with a group that landed in the PI for supplies and intelligence. That his group captured a Japanese soldier, interrogated him, and then "took care of him". I My father was active with American Legion Filipino Post 509 in Chicago. That is how the Post was called. Unfortunately the Post membership is dwindling. We would go as a family for the Bataan Day Parade in Maywood IL. The Post would march with great representation, but as the year went the numbers dropped. When I have more time I will share more. Cool! I met some Post 509-ers last April at Chicago's Philippine Consulate for the Bataan Memorial. Nice guys. True heroes. Unfortunately, I accidentally missed the Bataan Day Parade this year. I, too, look forward to your future posts.
