I was going over my fathers effects and found that the ship he served on USS Amick DE 168 was commissioned to the Philippine Navy as BRP Datu Sikatuna (PF - 5) on 27 February 1976. After move than years of meritorious service to the Philippine Navy she was decommissioned 20 March 1980 . At that time she was moored at Cavite Naval Base, Ft San Felipe, Cavite City , Phililppines. What I was wondering if she has been scraped or still afloat. I have only 1 picture of her but was thinking is there any other pictures of her either in US Service or Philippine Navy Service. I know its a very long shot. Thanks Gregg

Hi Gregg,
Frank might chime in soon. He knows PN stuff.
Otherwise you could try the Timawa.net forum. Lots of Filipino servicemen/Phil Navy guys there. A picture of the ship might turn up if you ask around. --victor

Hi Greg,
can you upload or post the photo of the ship. I will forward and get comment from another forum to confirm status of ship and details.

Here's the info on wiki; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRP_Datu_Sikatuna_%28PF-5%29" With these upgrades, she was formally commissioned to the Philippine Navy in 1980, and formed the backbone of the Philippine Fleet together with 2 of her sister ships and other ex-US Navy destroyer escorts. She was reclassified as BRP Datu Sikatuna (PF-5), now using the "BRP" ship naming standard and carrying a "Frigate" classification, and served until 1989 when she was decommissioned and scrapped.[5] She became a parts hulk for the remaining ship of her class, the BRP Rajah Humabon (PF-11)."
