Here's a nine part WW2 japanese propaganda anime feature whose main character is "momotaro", (a monkey?), using cute animals to represent IJN special airborne troops. This is supposedly an example of an early full length anime and is quite entertaining despite being enemy propaganda, he, he.
I only posted here the last two parts, but the other earlier parts can be seen by clicking on to them.
Enjoy.......

pretty impressive for its time. I imagined they were off to fight walt disney characters. it gives a good insight into how the japanese viewed western soldiers.

The "enemy" portrayed are the British in Singapore. With a pathetic wimpy caricature interpretation of Commander Percival. Explaining the defenses of the Island of Singapore.
But the marked outline map at the end of the film before they they end the shot of Mt. Fuji, has a resemblance to the main island of Luzon, where the animals are practicing their jump and drop zone landings from the tree? Next target the Philippine Islands?
Technically well animated for it's time. And quite brutal on their ambush and assaulting a tank crew for animation propaganda.

Did the Japanese conduct airborne operations in WW2? I know they had airborne troops but I can't remember reading about an actual Japanese combat jump.
