COAST DEFENSES LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND 2007: THE 21ST COAST ARTILLERY PREPARES FOR WAR
On Saturday and Sunday, June 23rd and 24th, Fort Mott State Park will host a living history event from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm with members of the Army Ground Forces Association and park staff portraying soldiers of the Coast Artillery Corps. The theme of this year’s event will be the participation of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (detachment), 21st Coast Artillery Regiment in War Games that were conducted during the summer of 1941. The participation of the personnel stationed at Fort Mott is significant because it depicts how the United States was preparing for the outbreak of hostilities in the days leading up to the Second World War. In the summer of 1941, war had been raging in Europe for two years and the attack on Pearl Harbor was only six months away.
This year’s event will provide historic insight into homeland defense and what it meant to the United States in the days prior to its entry in World War 2. Special tours of the fort’s electric power generating room, Battery Arnold and other sites usually closed to the public will be available, weather permitting. The Battery Commander’s Station will be set up with operable period equipment and will provide a hands-on experience for visitors. Selected items from the park’s historic collection, as well as private collections, will be on display.
Fort Mott State Park is located in Pennsville, NJ.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I don't have to drive my kids to any bday parties that weekend. Maybe I can swing by to check it out.

I went to this event. I'll post pictures as soon as I get the chance to upload them online. I'd like to thank Shawn Welch and Andy Grant and company for doing a great job and being so accomodating.
