Hello gentlemen. A friend of mine is offering me this Cavalry sabre from the Fil-Am War. It supposedly was a gift to his grandfather. Can anyone give me some info on it? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the links, Frank. I haven't personally seen it yet but when I do I'll look for the dates.

Nice info Frank
Medic Frank's right, look for the Mark ( Logo ) and Date stamped on it. In Militaria and Antique absence of which will affects it's value and doubt it's authenticity. However, presence of it will not automatically spells authenticity. It's a mine field.
Written account, papers, and pictures can help.
