Darn it you guys have all the fun!!
Yea the ignorance about history is endemic and not just in the Philippines. I'm almost willing to bet that American kids know even less about their history than Filipino kids who at least have some sense of it force-fed in those bloody awful history classes by teachers who know little more than what the book tells them. Still, it's an exciting time that we live in - BnK et al has the chance to change that I believe. Reading from a basic history textbook is boring as heck - but getting history from reenactors who look, act, talk the part... that's something else.
I remember talking to my cousins (Fil-American) who grew up here - they had no idea about the Fil-American War or any of that. That's actually one thing I worry about, settling here - I want my own kids to know about their Filipino heritage, about Rizal and his genius, about the courage of the first Filipino patriots who rose in revolt against Spain and that there is much to be proud of being a Filipino mestizo - and much to live up to. That's how I grew up, in the shadow of Rizal, of Napoleon, of Alexander the Great and Erwin Rommel. I'd like to hope that my kids would be the same way and not spoiled, stupid, computer game addicted morons.
I hope they distribute the film in some way here... I'm in Dallas now so I'm guessing there's not much hope getting it here but I do hope that I can see it when I go to LA this summer.

I like it except for the ending its to biten o abrupt, im not sure if there will be changes on the final viewing, A good movie for a budget of $1.5m. The cinematography is very good, actors have no makeups according to Sayles, The best thing is there is no bida effect on the characters ( no rambo or john wayne effect) unlike most ponoy movie. As for the uniforms i think they have done a good job except for the colonel rank that ray mentioned, I leave the rayadilios to perry.
Only three of us went in uniform me as an indio, perry in raya and medic as US infantry, at least all are represented. some thought that we are actors from the movie he he.
will post pics later, most of the pics are with medics camera.
