Were there any medals issued to the Katipunan or the 1st Republic's military? I searched the internet and could only find American medals issued to US Navy, Army and Marines, and occasionally a few Spanish medals. Does anyone know and can anyone post some pictures. Thanks --- Galahad143

Yes is the answer! Danial Dallan wears his fathers medal when attending commemorative events, and there is one worn on his uniform by General Licerio Geronimo in his photo. I would think all medals would have been issued for acts of bravoury and none as campaign medals. Still very few would have been issued or have survived WW2 and a multitude of natural disasters in the past 100yrs. I believe replicas can be obtained or made for you, but any authentic item would be taken by a museum in the Philippines or more likely in the USA as they can always pay the highest price for anything! Bonifacio's regime certainly struck medals. Cheers ---David

Cool....I wish we see more of these in photos and educate more people about them, there are very few remaining Spanish issued medals of that war and even less or I certainly have not seen one yet of Filipino medals and it would be very good to see some posting here. Thanks for the info Danny.
