I saw yesterday the special preview of History's (formerly History Channel) "WW Lost Films" episode 1 and My Cinema Greenbelt - and I have to tell you I was blown away. The showed amazing HD footages in color from WWII. It came from 35mm color film and was digitally remastered into HD. They said they search all over the world for these color films and came out with over 3000 hours of colored footages in various locations. I have seen countless WWII docu's and man, this is something else. Even the sound is so real, as Prof. Rico Jose said there, you can hear the rattle of the chains of the landing craft as it opens up on the beach - which the producers say are real. The story is a docu that focuses on 12 people and it follows their stories during WWII. There is no narrator as most of the text is derived their own personal accounts (they are interviewed and their voices are morphed into younger voices done by celebrities like LL Cool J & Rob Lowe) or taken from their own diaries. For us here in the Philippines all the episodes are great, but the one to look forward to is episode 9 where they will feature bataan & corregidor and/or the liberation. It will show on May 10-14 at History channel 2 episodes back-to-back. If you have a good TV and sound system, set it up well and enjoy! ;D

They have been showing it here in Hong Kong since monday, two episodes a day. Very nice footage and even better, more insight from WW2 veterans.

I can't stop crying watching the documentation. It was really good. They really captured what's in war, what's war. I think it's a 1 week series and so far, I've got to watched the first 3.. I've got to understand a lot of things that's confusing about WWII. Now, I got it...
