Congradulations on this incredible body of work Mr. Masayon! ;D A true Pinoy artist with a very impressive tribute to our forgotten veterans.
Thank you for posting it here in our forum. Had we known about your exhibit earlier our Fort McKinley chapter would have paid a visit to Orani to honor you work. I guess that must be you with the blurred out face in the slide show.
How long did it take you to complete and were will it finally be displayed?
Thank you again for helping educate the people of Bataan specially the newer generation who have no idea what the USAFFE forces were and WWII Philippine history. For our entire three consecutive days participation our group experienced and witness the massive ignorance that very sadly evidently shown when they saw our group in PS uniforms and though we were doing "Japanese" impression.
A lot of your work was very interesting specially your tribute to the 21st. "They shall not land" PA Div. I have forwarded your tribute of Calugas' son and also of the 26th Charge at Morong to Mr. Ramsey's.
Mabuhay to our Overseas patriots and kababayan!
Philip

Hers this is absolutely fantastic! Where and when did you paint these artworks? Are those originals on display or prints? How did you get your work displayed? Did you talk to the mayor? Did you come home from the middle east just for this event? (lots of questions) Maybe next year you can coordinate with the guys and they could have a photo shoot with your artwork. They would be the "living" counterpart of yours Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

Hi Hers,
It really is very inspiring to see this great collection of paintings you did from a very rare artist like you to highlight these heroic moments in Philippine history. I myself can Illustrate and draw and now teach and I can really see the tremendous amount of patience and time and discipline in doing oil paintings. Very very few Filipino Artists today ever touch this forgotten subject "The sacrifices of our forgotten veterans in Bataan".
And this sad neglect has been going on for decades and must be brought back and showcased through the arts and media to really educate the Filipino public about their rich historical heritage. Keep the passion burning and let us know if you need help in your future projects about Philippine history.
I plan to show your works tomorrow when I visit the true heroes of the Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor luncheon at the HQ. Camp Aguinaldo. Maraming salamat!
Philip

Hello HERS,
Thanks for creating the paintings and displaying them. Through our small efforts we hope more Filipinos will be reminded and inspired.
When did you begin to paint? What medium? Did you study art, when? I would like to add some information to the links to your paintings.
Congra†ulations and Salamat.

Yes Mr. Veevee, when I saw your Mt. Samat and Balanga photos in the forum afer I return here in Jeddah, I told to myself "Ang ganda". By short notice for sure you can pass by in Orani and see the exhibit. It's only 25 kms. from Balanga. Your acitivities in Balanga, Mt. Samat & Tarlac, it's beautiful and the quality of the photography are professional too. It's very inspiring to see that people in your group are also have the passion to share our historical heritage. It's really amazing that kind of passion, sure we have the same breath of motivation sir.
Like you, I love reading our history. Even when I'm still living in slum area in QC in 1994 it is my habit to cut some clippings from newspaper historical articles like Manila Times and Manila Bulletin then lately PDI. Specially during our centennial celebration in 1998 I have a lot, I think thats the start of my passion. I have drawn one battle of heroism in watercolor in 1997 about the story of The Hero of Zapote Bridge-Belgium educated Civil Engineer Gen. Edilberto Evangelista during the war with Spain in commemoration of our centennial.
It was the inspiring story of Calugas & Abucay line that inspired me to do the Battle of Bataan paintings.
I have many sources like Encyclopedia Americana, Concise history of the Philippines, WW2 in Photos as my referrence materials. Lately due to internet, there are a lot of materials and source of infos .The internet is very important tool. Your history forum is one of the best site to visit for infos, it's organise, clean and there are a lot of inspiring works from the group.
Thank you Veevee Hers
