cgi.ebay.com/1940-WWII-WW2-Phillipine-Scout-Helmet-w-net-RARE-/360252723279WW2 Phillipine Scout helmet with net
This is a Philippine Scout Helmet, WW2 issued, but dated BEFORE the war. Written inside it says Philippine Scout May 9, 1940. It also says 1 Lt M. Antonio. RARE item. Issued to guerrillas to guard against the JAPANESE invasion. This appears in very good condition with the original net.
Please email us at delsmiley@hotmail.com if you have questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!!do you think it's original?

Is that a Japanese helmet netting? As the US forces in the Philippines I have never seen in WWII photos of them issued US netting except very few captured Japanese ones.

Well it looks like a real 1917A1 helmet. The net could be an embelishment... or a later addition by whoever owned it. It's possible that it was owned by a Scout who was on assignment in the US before the way, especially if he was an officer. I wouldn't assume right away that it came from the Philippines.

looks like it has a field repair on the chin strap, the overall condition looks a little too nice to have been used in the PI, unless maybe a US soldier brought it back to the USA after WWII and it was well cared for and stored in a dry environment.
the netting looks like the type used in the China - Burma - India theater, I dont think it's Japanese?
the writing inside looks authentic, but for $1000.oo , I think I'll pass

Overpriced. Buyer beware.
"Issued to guerrillas to guard against the JAPANESE invasion."
No helmets were issued to guerrillas. The Japanese had already invaded when the guerrillas were organized. So statement should give you a clue.
Offer $15 and $10 shipping...

Yah right, I haven't seen a single picture of a guerrilla during the war wearing such helmet, honestly the helmet doesn't look familiar to me, in fairness it looks good and I think it was well kept, but for $1k? I can't afford it...
