Jojo told me ang gusto ata ng DND, reenact yung Japanese punishing Filipino POWs, then may transition that guerillas will attac & capture / kill the Japanese.
Sabi ko nga, kung walang baril - ang labanan ay puro tagaan lang ng itak at Samurai. Jojo said, the DND will understand.
Tingin ko nga ang hirap to conduct a battle scene. Kaso since ang dilemna ang alam ng DND we are reenactors kaya kaya nating mag play or gawa ng act. Kaso nasa konti palang tayo & we have no experience here of doing reenactment & we need allot of practice. Sabi ko, baka mapasubo tayo, gagawa tayo ng di pa natin kaya at baka palpak & I sgguested gawin lang natin yung alam natin kaya natin like displays ng jeep, wearing different uniforms, parade, talking to veterans, etc... casual lang. Anyway, lets do brainstorm kung ano maganda, let's hear from Jojo Nicolas idea.

Hi Perry,
If we can plan a battle of Bataan reenactment were we can show how brave and determined the UAFFE soldiers fought on against all odds, Can the DND provide us with working rifles through their authority and position? If not then Why the martydom mentality POV again? Why reenact some pathetic "death march" that everyone knows already. And focus on the guerrillas as the heroes instead of the Commonwealth Army, PS or the PC enlisted men.
I wish I was there to explain to them what should be important is focus on, their bravery and sacrifice and winning a lot of the early engagements against all odds.

Although we could do a number of depictions of surviving 'marchers' in various cameos; we would still be portraying our heroes in a victim, beaten (rifle-butts & all), in the saddest light. This without a battle, or any portrayal of the vast damage our boys inflicted upon the Japanese Army. It would have to have a counter-balance to the P.S Prisoners suffering at the wagons. It could show a group of P.S. wounded around a wagon used as a doctor's dressing/ operating station. A burial detail going on and other prisoners being forced to dig graves for the large number of Japs killed. Jap officer confiscates medicine of P.S doctor to give to Jap wounded and making the Doc. (at bayonet point) go to treat passing Japs walking wounded. Background should show heaps of Japs in body-bags, smashed up equipment etc to show what they lost in eventually taking Bataan. The Jap Victors were sick and tired themselves on that day. Perhaps the American jeeps and other vehicles could slowly drive by full of Jap dead and wounded, Their escorts attacking the POW's in revenge as they pass by. Only this scenario would be acceptable to me. Somehow you would have to show the public what an enormous cost the victory was for the Jap. Army. Anyone good at cardboard & papermache tanks & cannons etc? Happy to play a part on the day anyway. David

I agree with the sentiments. Maybe you guys can do a little bit of what they want but also explain that you're also looking to minimize the Death March aspect of it and do more of the dignified stuff.
David, do you have a WW2 impression in addition to your katipunan? I wonder if you could be an "officer" with the rest of the guys.

I asked David if he can be our General MacArthur. I have the repro Philippine Field Marshal hat already, plus corncob pipe. Yeah I might even throw some four star collar pins in there. David, have you got a pair of khaki pants and long sleeves? BTW, Frank is in the Philippines right now attending the retirement ceremony of his close friend, Gen. Martir of the Philippine Marines. He says he'll try to see what higher echelon from the DND totem pole he can get an official nod from for a more direct participation of our gang in the Mt. Samat ceremonies. REMEMBER THIS IS FRANK, ...but let's think positive. ;D

Frank is here.
Just came from the Phil Vets Museum. Looks like a good place to base out of.
Will submit letter tomorrow to SND. I need from each individual who want to attend Mt. Samat;
Name, adds, phone. Include photos of you in the uniform you plan to wear. Front, side, rear, and left front quarter.
Will be seeing the SND again on Mar.5 at parade to confirm. MGen. Millena (ret.) will be attending Mt. Samat to honor his father in the 51st. Wants to wear short pants and ginit hat. He is endorsing the request to SND to attend at Mt. Samat.
Note: we will be attending as DBC decendants group and PSHS (BNK included.)
Have found .30 Cal LMG. can have water jacket fabricated. Total cost RP 36,000. any interest? (airsoft).
Waiting to hear from Ray.

From that, it appears that the official celebration is nothing more than a photo op for the president. I don't see how we could make an impact as part of the ceremony.
We've been invited by the Philippine Veterans Bank to lead a walkathon on March 27(only 1.5k) from libingan ng mga bayani to the Philippine Army grandstand. The Veterans Bank Marketing people believe this will be a good venue as it will receive ample coverage from the press and they may even arrange interviews so we can talk about the units we represent and our equipment. So far, the guys here are interested (so far around 5 guys have expressed interest). It will also be an opportunity to get some interest going for possible participation in April.
It seems that there will be no chance of getting permission to carry weapons as the gun ban is a comelec and not a dnd thing. but who knows...my contact at veterans bank my be able to pull a few strings.
Its still early days though and they are currently meeting about the MArch 27 event. I'll update you guys as i get more news. Anyone's welcome to join...the more the manyier. heheh

Will definitely be joining you guys in that Veterans event.
I suggest that we get in touch with Alvin and his group to bring along their WWII Jeeps for the veterans to ride on. Best way to ho nor and showcase the heroes of the greatest generation! I hope that there be WWII veterans in the event? This is their rare moment of honor.

Although we'll still meet to plan this, I want to share my idea :
1. If this is a fun walk then :
1.1 around 3 to 5 of us will march at the front with Phil. Flag in the middle as color guards 1.2 The jeeps (kung meron) will be behind us (with enough space for the color guards & jeep to be noticed by the public) moving in slow pacing. I suggest the reenactor be standing at the jeep for people to see the man in uniform 1.3 The fun walkers will be behind the jeep walking 1.4 Or if there are 3 jeeps, the jeeps maybe located per batch (company size) of fun walkers
2. If this is a Fun Run : 2.1 jeeps will move at the side of the runners (to give space for runners) at enough pacing with reenactors riding since reenactors cannot partipipate in the fun run with all those equipment or Type A coat he-he
Maybe we can separate a thread for the Mar 27 fun walk
Best rgds; Perry

Has anything been agreed upon and sorted out for the 9th april? Mt Samat or Capas? I would be willing to take part in a convoy run. I have my left toenail removed on the wed.2nd but should be able to ware a boot providing there wasn't too much walking. If not I'll hang the left boot over my shoulder and wrap my foot as a walking wounded guerrilla. A wounded man would certainly be in keeping with the event, and I wouldn't be shamming either, ha ha. Hello David, yes we will be there at Mt. Samat. We are still in the process of coordinating the movement of our teams. Some of the guys will be coming from Balanga (after their float parade there on April 8), while some of us (including myself) will be coming in from Subic Bay to be at the Mt. Samat ceremonies early morning on April 9th.
I'll e-mail Perry, Jojo Dy & Co. as to advise you where and when to meet up so we can all go in as one group, We will be positioned with the invited veterans during the cermenony.
I have your MacArthur hat, insignias, and tobacco pipe. Do you already have a pair of khaki pants and long sleeve shirt? If not, then please tell me your shirt size and pants size (waistline and length from waistline to ankles).
