but honestly in my personal pt. of view, we can make it better & more authentic if we have more time. I cannot go over night because I'll face a real war with my wife he-he-he.
Perry, We ALL worked really hard for those who could only make it that one day aside from the cost I shared to make this a success and I thank everyone and you too who came all the way to Corregidor as our tribute to the heroes who perished on the rock and the surviving Veterans.

Hi Ernie;
Sorry for that, no negative part on you, what I mean not professionals include all of us there & all our cameras are non prof din na point & shoot lang & hindi pang malayuan & no special gadgets. The non professional photographers includes me, & the rest of us therfe. To be professional pholtographers needs a training.
What I mean is that if you can just join us in the photo shoot (na lahat tayo focus lang ay mag act & pose) at merong isang tao ang ginagawa lang ay photos & pag direct ng shots (which may special schooling / trng din dito & even I'am not trained on this) who are trained & more expert than us & his gadggets are better, our photos will be better sana. But we had made our best kung ano yung curent skills & resouirces natin.
Sorry again for the misinterpretation. Yung efforts mo paid so much & sorry nalimutan kong mag thank you he-he pasensya na.

Ang ideal kasi, yung mga actors (dapat lahat tayo yun) tulad sa film, dapat walang iniisip at iniintindi kungdi mag pose & act lang & kung meron sana na separate director & separate cameraman, mas OK di tayo hirap.
Sorry again for the misinterpretation. Yung efforts mo paid so much & we do not have any photos kung wala ka, & sorry nalimutan kong mag thank you he-he pasensya na.

Hi Philip;
Yes I agree, we all made our best. What I mean is I wish (na sana payag yung wife ko) that I & the rest of us can go over night para we can have more shots at ang kalaban natin dito ay TIME. Para tayong hinahabol (he-he), hingal na hingal kasi time is ticking & we must decide fast kung anong pose, titignan kung ayos ba yung suot natin (baka may modern watches, glasses bukas yung belt or zipper, he-he). Kung baga nakakabitin yung trip natin, kung baga kung ako lang masusunod, sana 3 ays tayo he-he so we can maximize lahat ng poses, etc... kasi talagang ang ganda ng venue, di lang panay puno (common) but merong big guns & also the ruins are very realistic!!!! na wala kang makikita nito sa ibang place. I love the place.

Guys, seriously... try to line something up for April 9th. It would be quite an honor to do something like this at Mt. Samat.
Philip, you think this can be arranged through Col. Aguilar? Let me know... I may be able to help in this area.
As an aside... if some of you can put together a 503rd PIR impression, it could be good for the February observance of Corregidor's recapture. That's a whole new set of expensive gear to research and collect though. Maybe next year.

Hi Vic;
Col. Resty agree that he'll help us participate in Mt. Samat on Apr9'10. Maybe you can help us mail him from time to time. So far he told me he can help in coordinating the AFP. Currently next opreparation is the Jan16'10 reenactment / lecture at Nat'l Museum. After that, we'll focus sa Apr 9.
Philip, Selwyn, Ernie, Jojo & I discussed when we are in Fort Bonifacio that : 1. We need to practice drills (Marching, commands, salute, facing, manual of arms, etc) since we will conduct color or honor guards do marching, etc. & we are facing real soldiers in the event so we need to be snappy & look / act like soldiers too. 2. We need to represent both Phil. Army & Phil. Scout equally as also mentioned by Col. Resty. 3. We need to work with our uniform for some minor details 4. We need to consider the gun ban. Col. Rsty ask me initially to submit 2 proposals what presentation we will do. One with a fireamrs & one without firearms
Baka matulungan mo kami Vic sa coordination with Resty on the mail (para lang to keep Col. Resty & the group updated from time to time), although will do also our part, kasi medyo focus ako sa lecture for Jan 16. Although Apr 9 is still far, but coordination is crucial since this is a big event & the President of the Phil. Maybe present, so other guest dito medyo bigatin din & dapat we make the best impression.

Nice shots. Question just for reference though: Did the PS coast artillery wear khakis or denims dungarees like every other U.S and P.A. coast artillerymen? I particularly like the photos among the ruins and the rubble, it looked like Monte Cassino or the Italian campaign.

Wow! Is The Only Word to use! Yes folks I'm once more restored on-line with the internet, in my new hse in Angeles. You should always try to travel to events in uniform ( just as my friends in the Napoleonic, WW2 and English Civil War soc.s do) as this is the time you do have spare to chat and tell fellow curious travellers all about the P.S. Many journeys are boring, and people are often very ready to listen and question you for a good length of time. I know restoration can go a little too far ( some of London's monuments are a good example of this, so that they appear as recent, instead of something built 6 0r 8 hundred years ago); but the guns are just fantastic! Photos of them shown only a couple of years ago portrayed rusting piles of iron with many an axle minus a wheel or trace of rubber. So don't be hard on them. You should see the poor state of the relics, museum and buildings at Mt. Samat, and you would weep!! Let me Know If you plan anything there OK? I'm in Angeles and we have a farm just up the road from Mt.Samat. Re-enactment and living history where visitors can have a hands on living experience of a piece of the history that shaped and made their present world, has prove to be very successful in Europe & in the USA. I remember adults as well as children being amazed at my darning a sock using a wooden "mushroom" ( issued to all Brits Soldiers in both World Wars along with his "house-wife wallet containing sewing & darning tools) "Fighting and barbed wire tear the uniform and buttons must be replaced-your wife isn't at your side in the trenches; so War has it's good side!" that always got a laugh. I am truely amazed that no re-enactors had been there before you. Jolly Good Show Chaps! David

Splendid David, I think you'd make a fine General MacArthur impression. I already have a repro MacArthur "Philippine Army Field Marshall's" hat, and a corn cob pipe to boot. I do hope you can find a suitable pair of khaki pants and officer's shirt?
A Canadian friend of mine might also be around in April, he can play Wainright or Sutherland.
We might avail the services of a refurbished WW2 jeep or two, maybe Philip can make a small red board adorned with four white stars for good measure.
Looking Forward to Mt. Samat April 9, 2010!

Hi Guys, I'm now back in Sin gapore. Yes we have been doing some preliminary plans for the April 9 2010 commemoration. One of the dress code we plan to be in are CLASS A khaki's for that event. And we will have jeeps too courstesy of Alvin and his Pampanga collectors. Will be working to enhance these photos, more photos to come too! ;D Once again I thank Ernie for his patience in making these all shots come out the way we ALL directed him to do. And all those who made it too. Maraming salamat ! This is one trip and the McKinley photoshoot we all had to do and was worth it till the very end. See you all on April 9, 2010. Philip

Hi Ray,
Yes we all should have class 's ready and complete before April 9. Defintely if we are to have a composite color guard of PS, PCA & PC it would be great.
Which will need a PS Div. flag, CAP flag. Spear tips and poles. We will several yards of 2 inch gold fringes which Jo-An fabrics sells. Plus the yellow tassels from the flag stores there I got before.

Hi Guys,
Maybe it's just me but I actually prefer the battlefield impression and portrayal for April 9th. I prefer Perry's one impression where he has a bloody bandage wrapped around his head.
I think the flag-carrying and the Class A's will just blend you in with all the REAL Philippine Army guys dressed for the occasion. Real AFP guys are very critical of "pretenders" and even hate airsofters' guts for being wannabe's. BUT.... if you show up as battle-scarred reenactors, you won't be mistaken as a "pretender".
I think there is more wow-value for the public to see what the defenders really did go through and looked like by showing up in battle-scarred impressions. You will stand out and they will notice and you will be "acting" the part. Your advocacy for historical awareness and pride of heritage will come across better. There is a bigger message to send over and above the pomp and pageantry. Cameras will point at you more, you'll make the newspapers. You are reenactors and you have to act and show everyone what the haggard defenders looked and went through.
Whereas if you appear carrying flags like an honor guard and in Class A's, you'll blend in with the real AFP guys at the event, and they will be the ones to stand out because they will be much snappier than you. The public may lump you in with the AFP contingent and may simply take note that you're wearing a different uniform.
Maybe after the ceremony and there's a banquet or reception, you guys can change to Class A's but then your job as "reenactors" would have been finished.
Just my 2 cents.

Friends;
May point si Vic........... :
1. Personally, I find the Type A not too impressive compare to WWII Combat uniform. The style of the coat was used even until today in the AFP. Yung cut, yung style, yung may shirt sa loob & tie, all the same. The difference is just the color (Khaki).
2. The campaign hat - until now ginagamit parin, lalo na mga Drill Instructors & MMDA trafic aids.
3. Dapat magstand-out tayo. Mangyayari lang ito kung we have something to offer na wala sila. Kung hawig ang unioform natin with the AFP, Vic is right, the AFP is snappier, mas maganda ang built ng katawan, etc... we will become lousy sa tingin &
4. Ang distinguishing factor na kakaiba na duon tayo mapupuna or stand out I believe are the parts of the uniform di hawig sa current era like the Doughboy helmet for PS, use of puttees, use of Dungarees, use of shorts for PA, use of Guinits & use of props like blood & bondage na war torn. Although the occassion is formal, pero we can make our uniform worn & have dirt but not to the extent naman na ala Rambo na panay putik ang katawan he-he-he na lalayuan kana ng tao he-he
4. Maybe we can combine, mayroon 1 or 2 naka TypeA na ibang variation, isa PS & isa PA with different headgear, foot wear. I strongly suggest yung PS na Type ay mag Tubao (Moro) since di nila alam ito & they'll be attracted so much.
5. Since we are educating the public including the AFP & they are not familiar with the uniforms & I'm sure they will love to see the different variation of uniforms nung pre & WWII. In this case, they may even ask more questions ano ito, ano yan, etc... & attract them, rather than lahat tayo naka Type A.
6. Ito yung mga variation ng uniforms na pwede nating gawin :
6.1 Combat uniform PS Infantry (all khaki) in doughboy 6.2 Combat uniform PS 26th Cav in doughboy & high laced boots 6.3 PA in combat gear in shorts leaves & short pants, & Guinit 6.4 PA 1st Regiment in Dungaree with leggings & Guinit 6.5 PS Artillery in Dungaree & doughboy 6.6 Type A Moro PS in Puttees & Tubao 6.7 Type A PS officer with Sambrown belt, saber sword & leather leggings & Campaign hat or doughboy (common pa until today kasi ang Campaign hat) 6.8 Type A PA in puttees & Guinit
7. Kasi kung lahat tayo same uniform tapos Type A, tama si Vic, di tayo mapupuna.

(Continuation) 8. If we shall be maing a color guards, OK lang yung ibat-ibang uniform. the AFP, the US, China , etc... does it also na ang mga kasama sa color guards galing sa ibat-ibang brnaches having their own uniform. Kaya OK lang na ibat'-iba yung uniform natin. Kung marami na tayo & almost all the variation of the uniforms may representative, then yung color guards natin (at least 3-4 men) may have the same uniform.
