40th Mechanized ID California Army National Guard
A company of the 40th Tank company was sent to Bataan and became the 194th provisional tank battalion.
The 40th ID landed on Leyte with Gen. MacArthur's forces and fought in Negros.

Four of the 105 Howitzer guns used for the 21 Gun Salute, The two horses panic when the firings started! Ray almost got kicked as on of them had his hind right next to Ray when we all lined up. In the photo below they came back with the horses but position farther away from our line.

registering for the community reception for the outgoing Commander were we were invited.
On the left is Brigadier Gen. Mary J Kight, Calif. National Guard and another Brigadier Gen, Airforce greeting Mr. Ortega.
Brigadier Gen. Kight Assistant Adjutant General mentioned her mother is
Filipina too.
Post commander Brigadier General James P Combs escorted Ret. Brig. Gen. Antonio Ortega up to the podium to give a short speech about his carrer.
This was audience with all the Mayors of the surrounding communities and vips all giving a standing ovation for Mr. Ortega. The audience only sat down when Mr. Ortega returned to his seat.
Old Soldiers never Die! A south Korean war Vet with a WWII Philippine Army vet meet.
We were also invited to the $50. Dinner held for the outgoing Post Commander.

Our line right behind the 40th ID's formation. It was quite a long stand under that hot sun we did as the speeches were long. One National Guard woman feinted near our area and had to be carrier out by stretcher.
