If you're looking for an M1917 (used during WWI) that's got a complete, intact head harness and chin strap, it's going to cost at least $100 and it goes up from there. I'm not sure about pricing for an M1917A1 (the Kelly conversion- used during the late 1930s/early 1940s) but I suspect that the price is going to be high since there were fewer of them.
The cheapest way may be reconditioning an original and buying the proper reproduction head harness and chin strap.

If you want an authentic US M1917A1 (Bataan, Wake Island, Pearl Harbor, era) helmet, there's just no way it can be had for cheap. $80 is about the cheapest I've seen it go for on ebay, and not in very good condition, and only if you're lucky that nobody else saw it. A fully restored authentic and clean one goes for $150 at Prairie Flower Leather Co.
A post-war tommy helmet type can be had for cheap ($30 + shipping).
Don't you play airsoft? If you just need it for an airsoft skirmish impression where nobody cares about authenticity, this might do. Otherwise you could do some things to it to make it look more authentic, like changing the chin strap, or repainting or refinishing the helmet shell.

Have a look at the antique coins shops in Robinson's Ortigas and at MegaMall.
They may have some there.
Good luck.

Col Aguilar had some made out of fiber glass back there a while back. That is the cheapest possible way to go.

Have a look at the antique coins shops in Robinson's Ortigas and at MegaMall. They may have some there. Good luck. I saw one at Makati Cinema Square and it was selling for about P5,000. It had repro liner (rubber) and came with webbing/net. Way over my budget. Im poor so Im on a tight budget I looked in this antique shop/coin shop in megamall bridgeway and they didnt have it. As for Robinson's I have yet to find an antique shop there. If I can get my hands on a sample, I can get my friend who has a metal forming business to craft me one but my next problem would be the liner

Noy, Try Libertad, Pasay. In one of the sidestreets where they sell antiques ( kuno ), you can find an old apartment full of props and militaria being rented out to movie outfits doing war and period movies. They have lots of M1 helmets and maybe you might get lucky and find a doughboy helmet that was used by ERAP or FPJ in one of their WWII movies. Sikat ka pa!

That's where Indiosbravos got his helmet. No complaints from him. I think they do a decent job.

Waaaaaahhhhhh. VeeVee I just ordered from Prairie Flower my M17A1 kelly transitional helmet for $ 150 + $40 shipping. 50 pounds sterling from military history workshop is a far cry from my $ 190. hu hu hu hu hu. Kaya ikaw Noy, magtiyaga ka muna sa Libertad. Thanks anyway VeeVee for the info. Maybe there are more interesting items waiting for me at the MHworkshop. Noy, text me at 09209704331 for directions.

Sorry, but don't worry. You can't go wrong with Prairie Flower though. Their workmanship is tops and they refurbish real 1917A1's. This other place may be using British helmet shells, don't know. The helmet in the link looks good but if you notice, the styrofoam head that displays the helmet is sunk into the shell. British helmets are like that. The M1917A1's had their liners jutting out more such that the helmet sits higher on top of the head. You'd see a sliver of the flesh colored liner when it's worn. Like in this picture: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3b/Villamor.jpgPlus I think they make it when they receive an order for it so it takes a while to ship. You did good. Don't worry about it.
