Japanese Newsreels on their Invasion of the Philippines......
Part I
What must it be like in Fort Mills being bombarded everyday by Japanese heavy guns from Nasugbu?
Very smoky, very dusty, loud like living inside a church bell that keeps banging? I wonder how many American and Filipino troops died simply from aphxiation?
Part II
Part III
Part IV

Awesome find. Truly a window to the past. They even used the Filipinorice planting song as background in the first video.

after viewing the newsreels a second time, i am even more impressed. those closeups of the wounded in the malinta hospital tunnels have me dwelling on what fate awaited those people. looking into their faces it really puts a human element into the historical event. which ones survived the war and which ones didnt ?? cant help but really wonder what happened to the man with the left arm and upper body immobilized in a cast. i wouldnt think that he would fair too well in bilibid (assuming he made it that far after removal from corregidor). the physical shape of the newly captured american-filipino troops shows, in my opinion, that they were in better condition than photos of the bataan garrison personnel indicate. i suppose this is the situation in all wars. the farther behind the front, the better you are fed. bataan and corregidor probably are no exception. i say again, those views of the corregidor survivors/prisoners are certainly haunting to me.
