On behalf of the Great War Historical Society, I'd like to thank the Philippine Scouts for helping out with our battle scenarios at Marching Through History! Unfortunately, our Allied numbers are not as good as they should be but the Scouts helped balance things out! I apologize that I wasn't able to socialize as much as I would have wanted but I was dealing with my horse- it's his first outing at a full-blown event and he handled it pretty well but I had to make sure things were on an even keel. Someday we've got to all get together for something on horse. We might have wait on throwing the Molotov thingys though...my boy isn't quite ready for that one! ;D Once again, thanks!!!! P.S. San Miguels for everyone!

My boy did very well, all things considered. I didn't push him too hard and let him get used to things. The big circular area were everyone was set up around was a bit too much and he begain to get a bit antsy about it- lots of weird stuff and no exit- so I backed him off. I came back a little later but I wanted to get him slowly used to things and not push him too hard. Horse melt-downs are no fun. I'm hoping to take him out more. After getting him home, a major brush fire broke out not too far from the boarding stables so I spent a good part of Sunday morning getting ready to evacuate horses- the fire burned to within a mile of the stables, fanned by strong winds. Thank god it reversed. I had him saddled up ready to make a quick retreat if we got overrun- if the winds are right, it can be on top of you very fast. Basically I'd have to run him down the wash and pray. Interestingly enough, the whole thing didn't seem to bother him too much- thank the horse gods! It looks like things are calming down but it's definately been a long weekend... Hope to catch up to you all soon!

You're welcome Adam. I enjoyed using that P17 rifle on the trench against the Germans. It was a nice re-enactment battle. Now, we the adobo and rice eating soldiers of the Philippine Scouts can now be called a-dough-boys. ;D - Don
