I kinda wish they just let the government give the vets the money NOW, while the few that are alive can still enjoy it.
Nevermind the "recognition", that can come later
At this point the politicos and the activists are milking this thing for political mileage, not to accept the money without the recognition? Exactly how does taking the money now eliminate any possibility of future recognition?
You cannot change history, all Filipino soldiers who fought in WW2 had to pledge allegience to the United States of America. That was the precondition of their military service. That fact can only be temporarily ignored by the U.S. government but it can never be denied nor can it be undone.....Can't they understand that?
This game goes on an on and on. The money offer is easily put up because they know it will be rejected by the activists. It's not about the welfare of Filipino veterans anymore, it's about how politicians can keep on looking heroic.
