Nice find. Coats/groupings of the 'teens and early twenties is less-travelled territory among collectors/reenactors as far as I can tell; and these are locally produced ones at that. That piece of information about U.S. troops leaving their temperate uniforms back in the States and just having the "tropical" versions made here was interesting.
It'd also be interesting to find out if the Ning Co. and the Ft. McKinley/Bonifacio tailors that produced those coats are still in business.

With the Japanese invasion and occupation of Manila either their business were sequestered, looted or destroyed in the battle of Manila's liberation in 45. Yes I wonder if they were able to rebuild and continue their tradition during the post war reconstruction years.

Good find Philip. I've been casually browsing that forum. It's very big and I've never stumbled on to that thread.
Notice some of the Philippine Division patches where the carabao head don't have ears?
