Hello all,
Looking for some info on Thompson SMGs.
Which model was correct for WWII in the Philippines? I am thinking of getting a dummy gun for displays and would really like a tommy with a drum mag, but am unsure which model(s) are right for the period?
Thanks!

M1928A1 is the correct model. The M1A1 was issued later and was not designed to carry the 50rnd drum magazine. Also note that the 30 rnd stick magazine as shown on the 1928 below is not correct for early war. The 20 rnd stick as shown on the M1A1 is correct for early war. 1928 Thompson M1A1 Thompson (Not used till later in the war)

I remember having said before that only U.S. units of the USAFFE had Thompsons, particularly for tank, half track and scout car crews. The PS being considered a regular U.S. Army unit (not having any connections with the commonwealth government or the U.S. high comissioner) and one with half tracks scout cars at that would surely have had these in Bataan. But the PA?...apparently the OSP were also issued, but with the drum fed type.
