Thanks Vee Vee, your inspiration helped me move forward with the purchase. Worth every penny and any reenactor would be happy to own one.

Kalbs, thanks for the pictures and review. The price is steep but certainly certainly cheaper than a real BAR. For $3800!...Not really! You can actually buy a real BAR (semi-auto) for less. www.ohioordnanceworks.com/semi-auto/SLR-semi.htmlEverything on this rifle is original US Government parts with exception to the receiver. Being semi-auto, it costs $20-40k less then a full auto BAR...plus you do not have to spend $200 a year for the Class 3 Tax Stamp. Might as well just buy this semi-auto version and do some light modifications to make it non-firing for re-enacting...put it back to original state and you can have fun doing some real shooting at the ranges. Best of both worlds. ;D

Being a gun owner I wanted a real BAR and did contact Ohio Ordinance (This is where I got my 1919a4) but the waiting time was very long... at the time it was way over a year. If you look on their OOW's web page the price is $3350 & $3550 (btw, I said $3400 for the JAC which is an airsoft gun of which I was quoted via email from Edoshop, Japan) for the A3 plus add in the conversion you are talking about you are easily over $3400 mark. Two Mags for the real BAR cost you $100 alone from OOW. This is an airsoft review... not a comparison to a real gun. But if you want to... $1400 is still a lot cheaper than $3350...about $2k cheaper. No stamp required either.

Have you had a chance to use the BAR in a game yet? It would be nice if OneZero can superimpose your USMC impression to a fitting background.

Greetings Kalbs, Great review on the VFC B.A.R. I looks like one hell of nice prop. How much is it in US dollars. DO you know if any are available in the US. By the way nice Photo of you as a US Marine. Here are some familiar WWII US weapons still in production and available to civilians. .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol .45 caliber semiautomatic "Thompson" carbine. note absence of selector. .30 carbine. Early version with flip-up sight and absent bayonet lug. milspec

Greetings Gentlemen, My friend gave me a copy of the summer 2007 CMP catalog. Apparently they sell surplus M-1 Garands, Springfield M1903s, and M-1 Carbines! milspec

I suspect more are in production and hope a more cost effective version will be mass produced. -kalbs-

No stamp required either. Ahhh IC. I thought that was $3400 in US dollars. How heavy is the airsoft rifle?? I also contacted Ohio Ordnance a year ago, and they told me they were not taking orders until 2007. I called earlier again this year, and they said their orders will filled and it looked to be another year for the wait. I had the money at that time, but not anymore, and my priorities are now elsewhere. Ahhh well..next time na lang. $3500 for a semi-auto BAR with original GI parts is still a bargain in book, being real BARs are +25kUS and up. As for the mags, you can find them on gunbroker for $15-25 each. Greetings Gentlemen, My friend gave me a copy of the summer 2007 CMP catalog. Apparently they sell surplus M-1 Garands, Springfield M1903s, and M-1 Carbines! Milspec, CMP has been around for years. Their M1 Garand rifles are excellent...they are really good in their grading. I missed out on their recent Inland M1 Carbine shipment. Talk about a M1 Carbine frenzy, they sold out within a few days! For $495, gees, these things were flying off the shelves 4 at a time.

I thought why get the airsoft when you can get the real thing too. I also heard that it's CA legal though (problem is getting a 10 round magazine for it). The M1's at CMP are nice, I got one from them and functions and shoots well, but with gun dealers buying up all the M1's not much are left in CMP.

Some of us play airsoft as well as do living history so having an airsoft replica makes sense and a good back for the buck. Of course if you're a blank firing reenactor, airsoft is not an option at all.

Real guns are not allowed here in Hong Kong so we make do with what we have and playing airsoft is quite a rush.

I can absolutely say that the VFC BAR rocks. Even if you are a blank fire reenactor then here is a chance to get a BAR to carry for march and static displays.
I have one for sale if anyone is interested. $2000.00 US. Brand new in box. Check ww2airsoft.com for more info.
