Hi texian13cav,
Do you have the 1938 dismounted canvass leggings? That should be easy to lace on.

Daghan Salamat to Legionnaire ug VeeVee for your responses ! Oo, they are M1938 Dism. canvas leggings. When I got them they had 2 plain laces wrapped around them. The photo is GREAT !!! But how are they tied off at the top? Also, I have a pair of orig.US M1905 leather hooded cavalry stirrups (stamped SPALDING 1918, marked in paint HQ 57 I) VG to Exc. cond. that I don't need, if there is a 26TH Cav. enthusiast who might be interested... I'd rather sell them to one of you fellers than put them on E-bay !

I'm sure there is a correct way of tying the top. I just fudge it and make sure everything's tucked, neat, and secure.

Texian13
I would be interested in those stirrups for my saddle. My dad and uncle were in the 26cav. My dad used metal ones when they first started in 1922 but I am trying to complete a 1928 saddle my uncle used and they had hooded ones. How much and you can write me at. Send photo. R they in good shape?

ARMY ITEMS AND CAN SEND PICTURES OF A P.A. DOGTAG, UNIT GUIDEON FLAG STAFF SPEAR, WEB BELT BUCKLE ETC IF IT WOULD HELP IN YOUR UNIFORM AUTHENTICITY. MY COUSIN FOUGHT THERE IN THE AIR CORP AND DIED AT CAMP O'DONNELL. I ALSO PINPOINTED HIS SQUADRON DEFENSE AREA. THANKS, FOXHOLEFRANK.

Repro 1931 cavalry boots from What Price Glory. The boot top still needs to be adjusted by a cobbler to fit calves. Thin round laces needed to replace the flat cotton ones.

O.K all, I am looking for a set of the blue fatigue uniforms for a prewar ground crew display. I know ww2 impressions has them but also want to find another vendor for the different styles.

I don't know of any other place except WWII Impressions. The guys in the Philippines were able to have some Phil. Commonwealth Army version tailor made locally, but nothing like a commercially available one. Maybe the Coast Artillery guys in this forum would have US sources other than WWII Impressions? www.cdsg.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=135

Maybe you can print detailed pictures and have a shoemaker from Marikina make you one.

Maybe you can print detailed pictures and have a shoemaker from Marikina make you one. I found one I found one! All ph based reenactors, shoe maker at the old COD in cubao i think its still called Marikina shoe expo. Look for Valentino's. I showed them your pics and they will make me one for 2,800 (sigh) there was one on the shelf for P1,800, I bought it. Pwede na but its a bit "pointy". Now to polish it with dark brown shoe polish

Noy congratulations! That's a start. It looks like a brown leather version of the modern Bates combat boots. The sole is thick but it may not show in pictures especially if you're standing on grass. But one thing to watch out for so you can keep an eye on it is -- depending on the shoe, the canvas legging strap may not be long enough to reach around and under the sole. When the shoemaker makes you one, bring a canvas legging and show him that the strap has to be able to loop under the sole. They tend to use whatever available sole they have like modern thick ones. Also, ask him to put a toe cap in. Yes the Marikina Shoe Expo center in Cubao is the best place for having shoes made Congrats! Now all you need is a doughboy helmet
