Thanks for the tips Vee Vee. I actually converted my M1A1 into a M1928A1 as shown in the picture above. It is very nice conversion kit by CAW but it's not cheap at HK$1580.00

Greetings Gentlemen, I found this website which sells reproduction WWII Uniforms and Equipment. Maybe you guys in Hong Kong have heard about it since they manufacture and sell their stuff in Hong Kong or China. I came across them while looking for stuff on e-bay. They seem reasonable. A more or less complete set of US WWII acroutement costs $105.00. That includes: 1. M1923 cartridgebelt 2. M1928 Haversack 3. Gas mask bag 4. Leggings 5. Carbine pouch for 4- 30 round magazines 6. Double pocket carbine pouch for 15 round magazines It looks good from the pictures plus its in Khaki or OD#3 very close to the color of web equipment used during the early part of WWII. I can't guage the quality of the stuff and how it will hold out for re-enacting since I haven't examined the actuasl items. But this might help you guys towards assembling PS uniforms and equipment. www.ww2militaria-kcs.comKalbs - I hope you can share with us a picture of your upgraded M1928A1. How much does that upgrade come out in US dollars. I have the Cyber-gun Spring action M1928. It has visible screws on the right side even on the simulated furniture plus there's a chunk of plastic where the magazine lip should meet the receiver. It will take some work to make it look realistic. It could pass from 20-30 ft away. milspec

Milspec, I know the site you are refering too on eBay and I have purchased from kieth in the past. I got a german uniform from him when I was living in the US last year. Very good quality and worth the price. Where our team saves money is actually having our HBT's tailor made in Hong Kong. The proper material and and set custom made HBT's cost us per set about US$50 each. We also recieved a quote for the same set to be made in mainland China for about US$20 per set. I will contact Kieth about buying a full set of gear from him. I need to contact him anyways about having a BAR pouch belt made for me. I will post a picture of the M1928 conversion...once my daughter returns my camera. The conversion rate for HK dollars is 7.8 so the HK$1580/7.8=US$203 Note that this was a walkin price. It will cost more to order on the internet An easy modification with some very minor cutting on inside of the original plastic foregrip. It's all milled aluminium in a nice flat black finish.

Greetings Kalbs,
Fantastic looking parts! Looks just like the real thing. You said that it was made from machined aluminum bar stock. They did a good job. Did they include any markings? Do the adjustable sights and charging move or function? I hope you can put that charging handle in the cocked position. How did they work the stock? As far as I can remember the M1/M1A1 had a fixed stock while the M1921/M1928 series had removable stocks. Can't wait to see the complete gun.
Regarding your friend Keith, can he manufacture the complete uniform based on an original. I see a lot of nice original uniform. but they are usually small in size. I'm bordering on the large to x-large. Or does he already have a catalog/collection of uniforms which he just copies? Maybe we can get a couple of sets made? Repro uniforms being sold here are a bit pricey. Can you give me your thoughts on this idea.

Milspec, what size are you specifically and what items do you need? I have other sources too for repro stuff. I can have anything tailor made if I can find the buttons and fabric. Army HBT's with proper buttons are cheap here. A full set will cost about $50
I'm no small build either at 5'-10 , 44 chest and 34 waist and can find all sizes or have it made
The charging knob is springed so it works on the 1928 kit. The sight lifts too but cannot be adjusted. I'll post pics when I can

I just saw the new shots posted at FAS. I'm delirious with envy... I wish I could join your photoshoot next time but alas... 12,000 miles is a little too far to indulge a hobby.

Nice Thompson! By the way I really like this one shot of you guys! www.pbase.com/kalbs/image/68898815.jpgAlso for your next photo shoot, maybe you guys can pop a smoke grenade (does your playing field sell those?), and take a shot of you guys emerging from the smoke or something. And if anyone of you is up to it, maybe a a guy doing a fireman's carry on another "wounded". Just take 5 steps enough for the action to be caught on camera.

Greetings Kalbs,
Great looking M1928A1 Thompson. The conversion came out pretty good. Makes me want to get my own M1928A1. My dad used to tell me they had a couple in the farm back in the Philippines. Unfortunately, they had to surrender the guns to the military during the Marshal-law era. What a waste.

My converted Tokyo Marui M1A1 to an M1928A1 Im getting myself one this week. But its a China made airsoft gun. Ive been told its components are compatible with Tokyo Marui so should I decide on any upgrades I can always put in TM parts. The China made gun is all metal except for the wooden features which are made of plastic. The gun goes for about Php4,200 as compared to a TM which goes for about Php11,500. Im also putting together USMC (Iwo Jima) type uniform. I want to do a Philippine Scout impression but am having difficulties finding doughboy helmets

Noy,
Finding the WWI Kelly helmet is very hard and if you do find one in Manila they will be very expensive.
Ebay is your best bet as there are a lot of them. But try and get the early WWII Kelly helmet if you can. If you know of a relative in California who can bring you home one I can recomend some surplus stores in southern California, LA county are that also has them.

Philip Too bad earlier this year I saw a very clean 1917A1 helmet on ebay selling from Manila. It was owned by a Filipino WW2 vet who passed away. It didn't sell. The price was $80. The auction description included pictures of the helmet being worn by the veteran at various memorializing events including one in Mt. Samat. I thought about bidding on it and having it delivered to our house in QC but I never did. Maybe you can find one in Dau somehow.
