One of my trivia question was, "who was the first Filipino Medal of Honor winner?" The answer was, " Telesforo Trinidad". I looked up the info on the ship he served on and found this site.
There was no mention of Mr. Trinidad. I e-mailed the webmaster and sent him the info and citiation. He has since added the info to his website. He sent me this message....
Sir, thank you for letting me know this. I did a little research on Mr trinidad and have now added his citation and a narrative on his life to my USS San Diego web page. Thank you again for telling me about him. It is indeed a forgotten part of our military history and one that, in my opinion should not be forgotten. May I ask what your interest in the San Diego and Mr. Trinidad was? I will copy the link to my web page below for you. I also have added more information in the main body of the San Diego's history about the boiler explosion. Mr. Trinidad's narrative is in the crews muster section.
Also I want to thank your sir for serving our country and following in the footsteps of men like Mr. Trinidad who have worn the uniform and defended our Freedom. Thank You!

Also If you could send me a mailing address I want to send to you a copy of my research paper with much more history of the USS California/ San Diego that what is on my web site. It has quite a bit more detailed information of the history of this ship, which has her place in history as the only major ship to be sunk by enemy action during WWI.

.... I thought that was pretty cool.
