As part of my impression as a US Cavalryman assigned to the 2nd Cavalry circa 1911-1918, I'm trying to incorporate some details of service in the Philippines. From my research, I've found that the 2nd Cav was spread stationed primarily at Camp Overton and Camp Keithley, both which appear to be in Mindanao. So here's some questions: 1) I'm looking for pictures and maps of both places in order to get an idea of what it looked like then. Could someone point me in the right direction? 2) What language would the locals be speaking? Spanish? Tagalog? Something else? Could I get by on Spanish (figuring I would have picked this up serving along the Mexican border)? 3) Working off of #2, could someone suggest some common phraises/words of the local language that I could incorporate (and no, I don't mean the obscenities and four-letter words! ;D). Please excuse me if this really sounds pretty basic- this is kind of new territory for me but hopefully you all can send me in the direction. Thanks in advance!

I'll do some research myself. Not being from the area. I don't have a ready answer for any of the 3 questions.
